Same general area as yesterday (WMU 65/Larose Forest). There were moose tracks on the road and we followed them back to the pond where we found multiple tracks, some small possible deer. So I figure we might have both moose and deer drinking at the pond here. What do you guys think? Can I have both at the same place? Also to note, I found a spot part way between the road and pond where it appeared that animals were bedding. The ferns were all flattened (kind of like a crop circle ), I looked for fur or fluff but found none.

Pics follow. Big, smaller (grapes) and tiny (grocery store blueberry size):

I should add that what I am idenitifying as moose tracks were nearly the size of horse tracks. Here are what I think are the deer tracks, much smaller and about 20' away from where I think the moose crossed:

I believe sir that you have an affliction or fetish for taking pictures of s**t!:p You may find that you see more birds if you take your eyes off s**tscan mode and look for birds.:nest: This is I believe the kind of bird you are referring to as looking for, note they look nothing like the moose and deer droppings you keep photographing, roflmao!!

Absolutely moose "sign" for number 1&2...even possibly number 3. I've seen moose crap that small too..I figure it's a young calf perhaps. We don't have any whitetails or mule deer here in NL, but we do see sign that small sometimes, but most often its the bigger type like in 1&2.

Moose is the larger ones, smaller ones are deer.

unfortunatly starting Jan 1st,
the Larose Forest with be highly restricted for all motorized vehicles.
Thank the local tree huggers.
Concession roads will all be off limits.
ATV and Snowmobiles have to share road/trail 25 that runs East/West,
then Gagnon trail that runs to Limoges, thats it.
How they plan to enforce it,
is yet to be seen, as they cant keep trucks off the ATV only trails now.
They wanted to restrict hunting as well,
but MNR said "nutz" to that idea.
I am a member of local ATV club,
and we aint too happy about it.
We are a registered responsable group,
and we get punished as well.

Thanks for the update on Larose leadslinger. I'm a member of an ATV club in Eastern Ontario as well. We used to be a private club but have federated with the OFATV this year. Already got my gold pass and riden on main trail already (open all year). From the outskirts of Cornwall going east to ST-Annisette Quebec.

Confirmed

"Pellet" form of scat is more typical of moose/deer on a diet of browse - small twigs and woody matter. The earlier posting of the semi-soft mass is more typical of moose on diet of softer green/succulent plant materials.

Grape sized = usually moose

Glosset raisins = usually deer ... aka "smart pills"
(Taste one ... see, tastes just like deer crap ... aren't you glad you didn't step in it ? " Say, those pills work don't they ? ... you are getting smarter !
