No black powder makers in Canada?

Goex had a significant price increase late last yr. citing increased energy costs.
Anyone in the Edmonton area , send me a PM and I'll forward the name of a dealer who was charging AFAIK $17/lb for cans.

I think the bigist problem with manufacturing BP would be transporting it to the customers. Few if any trucking companies in Canada are licensed to carry it. If you could get someone to carry it, it would most likely be very expensive to ship. It may also be expensive to get a permit for your own company to carry it, let alone getting a permit to manufacture.
 
There are at least a couple companies that transport explosives. Thats how we get the stuff that we don't make here. It would probably be a lot simpler for a domestic company to not deal with cross border issues.

A lot of the problem with high shipping costs has to do with storage. Most sporting goods places aren't going to build a proper bunker for the large amounts of powder that would bring down the shipping charges particularly because the volumes that they sell aren't that big. At least thats the way that I understand the situation of many of the retail outlets.
