No camo for israeli soldiers ?

Watching the news, I noticed that the IDF (Israeli Defence Forces) only wear olive drap clothing, and no camo at all. The impression I have with IDF is that they have deep pockets, and could easily afford camo, if they needed such clothing.

Anyone know the reasons for the IDF not wearing camo ?
 
Olive drab is actually a decent all around camouflage. It doesn't stick out as badly as you'd think a solid colour would.
 
Why do you think the Israeli Defense Force would need anything more, they have nuclear weapons, state of the art armaments, superior Air and Sea capability that they use against civilians, wheres the threat?

As was stated before
I was based in Israel for almost two years with the British Military and have seen first hand just what goes on and how the Palestine people are treated like animals, the rocket attacks you read about on the whole are home made items assembled in rough steel tubes, they have no guidance systems and more often that not miss there targets.

All the Palestinian people want is to be left alone without the might of Israel breathing down there necks and making incursions onto there tiny country.

On the other hand Israel has state of the art weapons plus the full backing of America, in fact most of the American Government is made up of Israeli Jews, so the images you see on TV and the reports you read are very one sided.

Whilst serving over there and after a Hamas rocket attack that caused no damage Palestine was ordered to put down all its weapons by America and at the same time told Israel to go in with everything they got and take revenge, please tell me where the justice is in this act.

I can only hope that in time peace does settle on the people of this land but in realistic terms it will never happen whilst America interferes.

There will never be peace in the middle east,all terrorist groups do not have jobs they need to fire a few rockets,plant a few bombs so they can eat.
 
Politics aside please.

I was simply wondering why in this time and age, where any military power with some respect for themself, including Hamas, are using some form for camo design in their uniforms, which make me wonder why IDF, who fights wars all the time, do not use any camo, and just keep on using the "old fashioned" olive drap uniforms.

There was some uproars, when the canadians forces first came to Afghanistan, and did not have the kind of camo, and had to borrow "the right kind of camo clothing" from the british. However, the Taliban appears not to use any form for camo ?

Surely, IDF must have tested all kinds of come clothing, and come to the conclusion that camo is more of a "fashion statement" than a practical use for concealment ?
 
I think the IDF are mainly playing urban so some kind of digi pattern would be useless. I guess they use what they have as changing wouldn't help. I don't see the point of camouflaging when you are in the middle of a street, if you know what I mean.
 
i know for a fact the idf snipers use an overwhite as well as a ghillie suit- i've seen it

Conspiracy theories are best debunked by stats. Here's one from a reputable source, B'Tselem, "The Israeli Information Center For Human Rights In The Occupied Territories".

From 2000 To 2008 Fatalities Within The Occupied Territories

Palestinians Killed by Isreali Security Forces = 4781
Israelis Civilians, Security Forces, Foriegners Killed By Palestinians = 499

If you do the math that is 10x the palestinians killed for each Israeli. Tell me where have you seen those stats on your CNN, ABC Or NBC?

Israel is capable of pin pointing enemies and killing them. They killed the Hizbullah lead Imad Mughniyeh in Syria, they poisoned the exiled hamas leader, Khaled Mashall abroad. They sent missiles from a gunship to kill the quadrapalegic Ahmed Yassin and his children. The target here is clearly not hamas leadership as the IDF has shown that it can pin point targets and kill them or else they would repeat that process. The target today is to pound the masses and teach them a lesson for picking and supporting Hamas as their leadership.

As men of sound mind we should see that actions speak louder than words.

Networks are known to misinform the masses and have scripted agendas within their programs that are not in line with being objective. Precedences have been, the dot com bubble, where analysts who also work for banks that own certain stock shares would be brought on to increase the potential of the stock that they have interest in so that banks could raise prices of dot com shares and then flip them.

Also, ex fox news reporters have claimed that they had been given scripted memos of who they were and were not supposed to support in their broadcasts.

The list goes on.
 
I have a hard time understanding the pactical use of this funne, puffy hat the israeli soldiers are using, and it appears as it also fits over their helmets. No other military force have copied that strange looking, IDF head gear ?

Cobalt545, these two camo clad IDF soldiers ? looks like they are wearing the arabic woman's clothing, like a "camo burka" :)
 
Check out Jewish Soldiers Against the Occupation. Google something like that and read up on these guys. Opinions from guys who were actually there. Like rtaylor.
