No cost idiot scratch prevention !

You should NEVER need to use a hammer of any type to reassemble your pistol.

Some guns will require a considerable amount of force to push the slide stop into place. When new, my Baer was very tight and I don't think it would be possible to push the slide stop straight down with my bare hands. One little tap is much easier and you are less likely to slip and cause a scratch. A plastic or rubber hammer is not going to hurt anything.

You can buy the plastic pieces, in different colors already made for this purpose, I bought them and have had them for years, can't remember the product name though. Google it.

Mine drops straight in.
But now I think why pass up the extra security of your card trick.
I think I will make one out of the wife's credit card. It has a security chip.

Another option is the Log Man's mod. You'll never need a jig for assembly after doing it.

I love it when there is an idiot scratch it allows me to get the 1911 I want for a few hundred less. I shoot my guns and could care less about a tiny scratch if it functions fine. If one day I have a lot of money and can afford a collection of pistols that are rarely shot I will probably start to care about appearance.

On my colt it won't assemble in any direction unless I push the plunger out of the way with a little screw driver first so no idiot scratch I guess cause it doesn't do anything to rotate it.
