A buddy and i went calling yesterday, 3 sets and 0 results. Lots of magpies, may have to start carring a shotgun. Over 20 birds came in at one set, must have been a good year for the birds. Been pretty nice with no snow so i`m thinking the coyotes aren`t as hungry. We sure saw a lot in harvest so it`s just a matter of the right place at the right time. Kind of different when you don`t need the snow camo, or i could pretend i was the only snow bank for 20 miles around.:)

Magpies and coyotes often hang out together. If you call a magpie, pay close attention to the direction from which he arrived. If 20 magpies are together, there is something dead nearby, and there will very likely be coyotes in the area.

Are you sure you didn't call something you didn't see?

Don`t think i missed seeing any coyotes but you never know. Very likely a dead deer in the area as it`s covered pretty good by mule and whitetail hunters. Lots of heavy wolf willows and choke cherry bluffs. Going out monday likely, just a matter of time. Got lots of area to check, and yes it gets your attention when deer start coming through the trees. First time that happened to me i`m figuring if that is a coyote i need a bigger gun.;)
