NO CZ Pistol Warranty in Canada

I purchased a CZ Model 85 Combat from a local dealer here in Edmonton and needed to return it 2 weeks afterward because the rear adjustable sight had become lose.

I was shocked to learn that at the present time CZ has NO warranty arrangements here in Canada. From what the dealer told me I was very fortunate that CZ allowed them to replace the pistol but they would not do so again if I had any issues with the replacement. I wish I was given the choice of choosing a different gun to be honest.

I realize CZ has a good reputation for quality but in these days of mass production a bad one can slip through the cracks. It would have been nice to know about the lack of warranty before I made the purchase. Just wanted to share this with everyone.
 
I think I would have to deal directly with CZ. Scary. Hopefully the replacement will work like a charm. Few of us ever worry when we purchased guns that there will be a problem but it might be a good idea to ask before you buy.
 
Yeah. I heard the CZs were shipped to Ontario for all warranty issues. Apparently some small ma' and pa' operation out east deals with all Canadian CZ stuff.

Warranty in General

While maybe not the same issues exactly, I think this is a reality with a lot of different manufacturers products in Canada. Export/import restrictions and distribution issues are major factors - compare S&W, H&K, Taurus, etc. When the dust settles it is often the front line service of the retail vendor you bought the gun from that make the major difference.
 
I had the trigger return spring break on my CZ once. I sent it off to London Arms and they had Roger Kotanko at RK Custom Guns replace the spring. Turnaround was prompt.

I would say from my experience that there should be no problem getting warranty service or parts in Canada for CZ firearms, which is more than can be said for some makes like Taurus.

Your experience with London Arms is likely a case in point; It is possible/probable the part was changed and the cost was either eaten by them, or they dealt with the warranty issue in their own time after you received your pistol back....
 
London Arms replaced cracked plastic mag box on 452 without any issue - mailed me new one, I mailed them old one - done. One email, one week, cant expect more than that. I suspect the OP was misinformed (maybe the retailer wanted to make themselves out as heros, no idea).

I generally deal with manufacturers/distributers directly for warranty (RCBS, Bushnell, Nikon, Stoeger...) and find response prompt and hassle free - quicker than if you add to the workload of retailer and about the same work for you whether you tell retailer or distributer.

Dave at London Arms (importer) is a top notch guy! He will help you out. If it something small he can do it ‘in-house’, serious and Rodger K will look after it for London Arms. You will be taken care of.
 
Two years ago, I had a small piece break off from inside the frame, causing my slide stop to fall out when shooting. This was right before the IPSC Nationals in BC. At that time my gun was two years old, and had about 25,000 rounds through it.

A couple CZ reps. were going cross country meeting with dealers, I think. While in Winnipeg, they met with me, and looked at the gun. They determined there had been a flaw in the casting of the frame, and had Dave at London Arms send me a brand new gun. I believe CZ has a three year warranty on their guns, or at least they did.

Well it's two years later, another 25,000 rounds later, and this one is still going strong. Hasn't even broken a slide stop yet.
