CZ452 Americans in 22LR have been back in the stores in Canada for a while….that’s the good news. Unfortunately all of them seem to be coming in beech. Guys in the US are grabbing new Americans in walnut in the $300- $400 range. What’s up with that? I don’t mind paying a little extra for walnut if that’s what it takes.

I just ordered a beech american yesterday. To compliment my walnut one, of course. :)

I am a sucker for any cz rimfire (except that nasty "evolution" thing)

The beech ones are "Australian" americans. The ones in the usa are regular american models. Also there is a price difference for us between the beech and walnut americans.
As for prices in the USA they will always be cheaper. Doesn't help that our dollar is so low. But at least we don't live in Australia or we would be paying around $1800+ for a cz 22lr

I didn't start this thread to complain about Canadian pricing; only wondering why our wonderful CZ dealers don't order CZ452 Americans in walnut and sell them to us CZ fans for an additional ~$35? There seem to be enough 452 Varmints or Luxes in walnut in the stores..... I wish someone could explain and/or step up and order what we want.

It's all about pricing, it would seem. The 452s making into Canada are built for the Aussie market, where the price of a CZ is high. CZ is shipping beech to Canada as well, perhaps for the same reason. Beech CZ 452 will sell better in Canada than the more expensive walnut rifles, according to this thinking.

I hear you but....Canada is already getting many CZs with beautiful walnut stocks (452 Varmint, 452 LUX, 453 Varmints, 455 LUX, 455 American, 455 Varmint.....) and they sell just fine. 452 Varmints in 22LR were recently advertised by one of our sponsors for $540. 452 Luxes are selling for around $575. I am not sure why walnut stocked 452 Americans would be "too expensive" for Canada?

Also the 452 is phasing out still. So that isn't helping matters. My lux when I bought it last year was from 2013 and my hmr was from 2010 bought that 2 years ago ish. Both bought brand new. Check the date of yours and see when it was made that will tell you a few things.
Whittaker's in the usa put in an order for 500 americans in walnut recently. So maybe a dealer here needs to step up to the plate. From what I see on rimfire central is that all the new ones people are buying have been in the back room of the store for a good while now. All the factory fresh ones are 455's

its all about whatever the suppliers can get their hands on. USA has a much bigger market, they even have their own sub-division of cz's sale departement. they get to have guns stamped "cz-usa", and the rest of the world shares the internationnal market gun batch.

try https://www.irunguns.us/
they advertise they can get you whatever is in their us store for a small fee.

damn, that's too bad. :( walnut is a beautiful wood. :(

I actually just bought a 455 FS (2013 production) and it was in walnut. I love it.

Dunno about yew'awll, but I just mounted a scope on a CZ 452 in 17 HMR and if the cards
git themselves awll laid right I could very well be breaking in this
Virginia walnut stock gal tomorrow.........:runaway:

I just looked at my 2 CZ rifles the CZ455 I bought from Wolverine a while back has some nice tiger striped wood on it, my CZ452 looks plain to the 455 model sure my has some grain lines in the stock but not that cool tiger stripe.
