No deer, only yotes.

Seems to be the same thing all across Southern Ontario. Too many coyotes.

Everyone needs to step up and whack em when they get a chance. People who are seeing less deer this year are likely going to see even less next year and so on and so on, atleast until mange comes back strong.

I wonder if they would do the trappers out of a living if they expanded the general hunting licence (deer, bear, whathaveyou) to include unlimited coyote instead of just one. Here in Mb. they allow one coyote on your deer licence.

fishers are horrible animals that were released by the MNR in Ontario they are not supposed to be here kill them all!.....there are ZERO rabbits and grouse left on our property due to fishers I shoot every one I see!.....they also kill our neighbors chickens so I'm protecting livestock ;)...

I believe this to be untrue. The MNR did not release fishers, changed land use and improved habitat has moved them south back into their former range. Careful if you shoot one, they are considered furbearing animals and as such require a trappers licence to harvest.

I think they are cool little critters, and I love to see them on my property. I am an avid grouse, woodcock, small game, deer, and coyote hunter, and when there are fishers around, it must mean there is a few grouse too.

i just spent a whole week hunting close to fredricton n.b. in that week i saw nothing but doe's and not even many of them. 2 of us went 4 days without seeing a thing. (very discouraging) we seem to have a little dog infestation too. i am onto a big old buck now hopefully he makes a mistake soon ;)

Cool as they may be, they will clean you out of grouse and rabbits, and have also taken down full size deer...

The MNR released fishers in Prince Edward County and they are now all over the Qunite area killing people pets and livestock and yes you can shoot them if you have been asked by the owner of the livestock or they are attacking your pets fur bearing or not.......they have also been known to attack people....

I believe they released 4 pairs back in 2001 I would have to check with my trapper buddy to know for sure.

To tell you the truth I have only shot 2 and both were attempting to enter a friends chicken coup I was called after chickens and eggs started going missing...this is in the "county" where fishers are not native.

coyotes are hard on deer populations, the area where I was huntin is great for moose but the deer population is going down and lots of yotes. I shoot them whenever I get the chance. The trapper took out a lot last year and when some wolves moved in 2 years ago he spent the entire winter hunting them and did get them. Wolves are hard on moose calves.

oh and the gutpiles we left were cleaned up overnight by the yotes. You could hear them howling all night and day

I hunt at my dads in QC eastern township (6 north), have seen only a small doe on two occasion, an one coyote. I did not want to ruin the day so I did shoot it, the doe did not seem to care much for it as it got there less than 45 minutes later, from the same direction the coyote left. I'll be hunting for that yote when the winter gets here. By the crazy howling going on, there is more than one there for sure.

any good factory .308 that will not explode a yote?

I would love to see any printed material about this.....

We shot 2 yotes last year, no deer, and minimal success this year on the deer front. I hate those little bastards, and will shoot em every chance I get. My brother is of the mind that he doesnt want to make noise shooting at em, but how many deer will just be hanging around you if theres a yote? :) blast away!
