Ok I'm not giving up. Its season number 2 and still have yet to bag a deer. At least this year I did get a shot off on a running doe,hit just behind. My lack of experience. So there are a few sections still left to try, and I'm going out this sat to try again. Not very familiar with this area but will try just the same. Get up early and try and scout out a spot for my blind. Maybe a bit of luck will be on my side. Eastern MB here I come.
 
Not even counting muzzleloader season, it took me 5 days of hunting before I got my hamburger. Don't give up, the burger is out there!
 
Thats a tough shot, Did you ever try makeing a noise ...say whistle or funny sound ?
Works on moose..see vid on the moose are teasing me thread in this section.
Sometimes they stop to look ;)

I don't know about running deer, but when they are walking by a short noise like "bahhh" will stop some of them long enough for you to get a shot off. Worked for me with a muzzle loader.

Just got back from Round 2 in Ohio, saw a lot of deer but it was the archery still so no good chance at a shot. Monday was the start of gun season, my brother-in-laws convinced me to stay for the morning by tempting me with a Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 magnum to take out into the woods. I got to admit, compared to walking around carrying a long gun or a crossbow, the handgun is a lot easier to move with through the brush.

Thanks for the responses. I tried to bahh but the girl wouldn't stop. I'll have to work on it. I did get out to the area I am going Sat morning during grouse season. I remember a few spots that had deer sign. One in particular that was especially heavy with deer tracks and droppings. Actually found a huge shed. Maybe my deer is still there waiting, although I would take what is presented.
