Check out the post in Firearms politics.(100 guns and up to 1m rounds seized) I don't know what reprocussions this may have for us collector or fall out but the RCMP may look at antiques more closely after this.
Dave Elliot ran No FAC.ca and a Head shop in down town Reddeer after talking to him a couple of times about a antique Colt he had forsale I didn't buy it from him and didn't want to be associated with him as he was way out there some were.
 
The guy ran a head shop in Red deer and was selling Pot type items bongs ect was caught with pot in his possesion.
All his firearms charges are for unsafe storage, so far!
I was just talking to a buddy in Canada about this guy.
I cant see anything he was doing as causeing Honest antique collectors any trobles tho.
The RCMP Know about the Antique laws ect.
The fact its getting all over the newspapers about Antique guns and there lack of licenceing sucks tho.
Lets hope it stays in the back water AB news papers.
Sounds like this guy was breaking a few laws besides just poor storage.
I have nothing against guys who like there Pot but this guy was just a fricken nightmare waiting to Happen.
selling body armor in a head shop with Antique revolvers ya thats a legal honest buisness lol.

I bet the RCMP check out every single one of his Antique Revolvers tho.
Make sure none of the long cylindered S&Ws can chamber and shoot a 44 40 Ect
Also he had some pretty high ser #ed C96 Broomhandled Mausers as Antique to even one large Ring Mauser.
I wondered how he was claiming they were Antique when i couldnt get one with a lower Ser # lettered i was looking at in the USA.

He went by Hempydave on Gun broker as a bidder LOL.

Ah yes. Those of us trying to preserve things have had another favor done for us. If you ever read (can read) this Dave, I'd like to thank you from the bottom of my bottom...................A HOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
This is exactly the kind of publicity and mess I do not like to see antique guns mixed up in. Hopefully it dies down without any new precedents being set. I wonder if any of the unsafe storage charges were because some of his antiques were not stored according to non-restricted firearms requirements (which they do not have to). I've never sold an antique to HempyDave (Dave Elliot) but, now that I've found out what kind of show he runs, I certainly won't be ever selling him one if the occasion arises. There's bound to be one bad apple from time to time and, hopefully, people realize that and keep their distance.
