GSG5 was prohibited because the RCMP personnel responsible for classification weren't given a working model and, like the f*cking morons they are, simply assumed the product was an H&K MP5 variant.

The reality is, it should be non-restricted because the system is entirely different. About the only ressemblance is cosmetic. Same goes for the Sig 522...
 
Actually sir.. you are only partially wrong... they based their results on what they've seen at the shot show 08 which was only a mock body that resembled the final product...

HOWEVER... they were given a GSG5 to test in their labs (once again whomever did the testing) and have tested it to their hearts content... and still choose to not rescind their decision.

They didn't rescind to save face. Only the cosmetics are nearly identical: everything else is completely different. I'd love to see the report, if it even exists...
 
The important question is what do the marketing materials say about it?? If the brochure says 550 derivative, then we're dead in the water, just like with the Sig 556...

Not impossible to overcome, but they sure didn't make it easy to talk the FRT techs into giving it a Non-Restricted classification.

Once again the GSG5 wasn't advertised as a MP5 derivative... the ONLY referance that I know that was even mentioned to the RCs was that "it looks LIKE a mp5" and that was it.

I agree with most their ruling should be rescinded, they made a mistake, everybody does, I think we're more annoyed that even though it doesnt 'break' any laws to be non-restricted, they have a final say based on their likes/dislikes.

I do hope this makes it to Canadian Market though.

I'm sorry, but the fact that it still hasn't been re-classified is complete bullsh*t. I accept that they made a mistake, but now it's time to correct that wrong...

Wasn't there a lawsuit/court matter regarding the GSG-5 involving Blue Line? I'd love to know what's going on with that.
 
Yawn. Alominum lower to take AR mags made into .22 margs just isn;t a SIG in my books.

Here's a heads up:

Sigarms is NOT Sig, Sig-Sauer, or Swiss Arms. It's an American venture capitalizing in the popularity of Swiss Arms products and (poorly) making some stuff under license.

They can keep their ugly .22 and I'll keep my $3K.

450$US = ~550$CAN

I'm guessing that it would be approx 1000$ after import, mark-up and taxes... which isn't all that bad. I'd buy one without hesitation.
 
$700, maybe, $1000, too much. Looks good and cheaper to shoot than .223, and you don't have to modify anything to make it look cool, unlike a 10/22.

Well, look at it this way: the closest alternative (aside from 10/22 projects that cost approximately the same thing) is an AR15 upper, which ends up costing you 1500$ or so if you don't have the lower. Otherwise, the upper itself is 850$ + tax.

Just a thought. :)
 
Its a good deal considering a Tacsol .22 upper is $850 bucks. I would buy one or two!
