Talk about when being ANAL comes back to bite hard. So I'm more than a little cranky when the kids leave the lights on. Sunday Aug 30th, I m walking down the hall and notice an upstairs light on, I turn and head upstairs to turn it off, get 1/2 way up and think to myself, screw it I'll get one of the kids to do it.
Well that was the last thing I remember before I lay screaming in agony at the bottom of the stairs. Completely tore off my quad tendon on my left knee, just got out of the hospital today. 8 more funfilled weeks in the straight knee brace.

Tell lots of good stories for me please guys. FS

I tore my ACL in september 2005.

By November, I was able to ride the quad to where I wanted to hunt. A few hobbles away and I sat in some trees. I was able to shoot a little buck that year. Help was only a cell phone call away.

i did ny knee aug 20 a few years back. i made the duck opener on the first. used crutches and i didnt have retrive any ducks.

i about trashed my zimmer splint from hunting in it that fall. you can do it if you want and have some buddies to give you a hand.

s**tty...

If you can't get out, at least you can get a years worth of reloading done. That way, you'll have more time to hunt next year...

Dont give up......

Who says "Adapt and overcome"

You shall find a way to hunt or the Liberals will take away all your guns!!

Dont be chincy with those pills.... Walmart pharmacy has LOTS

Ouch.

What a stoopid way to blow out your knee :(

Stuff like that blows my mind. Suffer damage because you were leaping thru a fire to save a puppy's life, that I can understand. But changing directions on a staircase? Damn!

I feel for ya, bud :bigHug:

Fassteel - you CAN do it. Call it therapy for the leg. You might not be able to pound bush, but no reason to stay home.

Hell, even if you have to drive to a spot and pull out a lawn chair you should be out there.

Make your buddies feel bad so they push out the bush towards you

Therapy ... lol. Could try and get the govt. to pay for it too maybe.

I would go, if the body goes hunting the leg is sure to follow.

Off season conditioning is a must for me. 8km runs three times & week & 3km runs with half hour stair work at the local stadium 2 days a week, & alot of stretching in between ...... all for grouse hunts in the fall which are a 20km round trip trek sunup to sundown.

Anyway, some kind of fitness preparation is a must for the hunting season - especially as we get older. Perhaps you can use the time to recover from this 'tweak' to plan a spring/summer routine next year that will get you in 'game' tough condition.

.... actually wtf, why not get one of those Portable Hyperbaric Chambers and a blonde Physio & try to heal up quick in the next 45 days or so.:D

Did a 180 degree dislocation 30 years ago. After surgery the Doc said to expect Arthhritis in 25 years. He was off by 6 years. I now wear a 1500$ leg brace and as I'm "OLD GUY" at the camp I just sit on a good watch and if I shoot a deer as was said, a cell phone call away its taken care of!!!! I'm 70++ now and had to give up the Moose last year(did that for 35 years) Ah Well!!!!!!!!!!! ain't life grand. Jim
