No love for the P30?

Mag release is akward, and you have to pull the trigger back a mile and a half. Grip is great. Sights kinda suck. For the money there are better choices out there

I don't find the mag release to be awkward at all. It does take a bit of retraining to get used to though, I will admit that. Many shooters still try to work the HK ambi paddle-style mag release with their thumb and that is what causes them grief. the paddle should be manipulated with either the trigger finger or middle finger for best results.

I use my middle finger (with my trigger finger out of the trigger guard of course) and like the method so much that I have switched the mag release on my S&W M&P over to the other side so I can work it with my middle finger as well. Works very well for me and I finally don't have to change my grip to drop a mag. For me it is faster and is now more intuitive than a thumb release. At least for me...

I am no fan of the HK stock sights either. They are OK, but not great. Unfortunately German law prohibits the export of tritium night sights on the gun, so we get the dime store glow in the dark version... :(

OP Here.

The "akward" mag release is precisely what made me settled for one of these. I simply couldn't find a traditional handle button release that I could reach without using my second hand or shifting my grip. In timed events where you need to eject while reaching for your next mag, being able to do that saves me 1 or 2 seconds every reload.

I got the P30LS. External safety so you can holster it cocked & locked (thus avoiding the 1st single action), and long slide do I can legally have a flush barrel.

We'll see if it withstands the test of time, but so far I'm liking it a lot.

The "S" is the only variant of the P30L that I have not owned.... This thread has inspired me to start shopping around for one now! I just have to decide whether I want a P30S or a P30 LS... hmmm....

I do wish P30 mags were cheaper though... There's no rational reason why they should be $80+ when decent quality mags for other guns are coming out of Italy and sell on Canadian store shelves for $40 -$50.

P30/P30L is just about one of the most accurate pistol out there. Parts are expensive and hard to find only because there is no market for that. They will run for more than you can afford in ammo before any parts are needed. Had a few and will get another one soon.
