Is it just me or has the building of hand cannons come to a end?
Thru the sixty's seventy's eighty's and ninety's seems we getting bigger
revolvers and semi autos now its all the semi autos is the hand cannons
day run its course?
What do you think right or wrong.

I'm not 100% sure what you said but it doesn't get much more 'hand cannon' than the .500 and .460 S&Ws, 45-70 BFRs, 454, 475 and 500 in the Freedom Arms and .50 DE - all of which are in current production, and more available now and any hand cannon in previous decades. And there is really no point on going bigger than what is on offer now from a commercial perspective, though i'm sure we'll see one offs like the handy 50 bmg pistol.

If you are talking about autos, I would agree. Auto Mags, Wildeys and Grizzly's are gone and only the DE remains. too me 10mm doesn't really count as a 'cannon' round. Fortunately the Auto Mag looks like it is coming back into production at least for awhile (http://www.automag.com).

While it may not meet someones definition of a hand cannon, the FK Brno 7.5 looks really interesting but its seemingly imminent launch this past fall has been indefinitely postponed (https://www.fkbrno.com/en/7-5-fk-system#)

I had a S&W 44 . It was fun to shoot when I was younger, but it started to hurt my elbows & wrists a lot as the years went buy. Old age sucks.

For the more formal courses of fire at the range, I do enjoy using a number of target quality paper punchers, those being primarily 22LR and 45ACP. However, I also enjoy sessions of shaking the cobwebs loose with a few of the 'Boomers' I have for that purpose. That is, items above 357 Cal. First for me, is a 4" S&W model 29, sporting S&W factory ivory grips. Probably worth more than the handgun

Next, a SS Ruger convertable in 45ACP/45LC

And, the bruiser, my 500 S&W. This one has the ability to inflict pain, at both ends.

And, the most recent addition to the fold, a Magnum Research BFR in 45-70

John boy, you keep posting pictures of your toys but I never see you at the range? Are you a fondler or a shooter:p BTW I would mind shooting a few rounds out of you Keith special. I'll buy the beer:p

We'll definitely have to get together. I've had the cataract surgery in both eyes so the sights and cross hairs are considerably clearer now. Been doing a little shooting at the local range up close to home but I also have a membership at the facility down your way. Probably won't get down until after the upcoming gun show in Duncan. By the way, are you going to the show??

When is the next Duncan show? If you be there I'll show up;)

if the OP is talking about new designed hand cannons the 460Rowland came out here within the last couple years and seems to be going good and strong.

S&W is still cranking out the 500's and the 460's.

Desert Eagle seems to be hitting the market with a lot of new colors these last couple months, or maybe im just noticing them more.

i think for big boy pistols the 460Rowland is probably the most notable new kid on the block.
what do they say..... 41mag power in a semi auto is what the 460Rowland is comparable too.

Glock just put out there 10mm Long Slide here year and a half ago and no one seems to be able to keep them on the shelves.
(G40)

I know i just picked up a G40 here in January.
460Rowland last year.
my dad picked up a S&W 460V Mag couple years back.

for me im seeing a lot of big boomers!

I see two things. First, new cartridges/guns aren't something that happen every single year (at least not factory offerings, there is always people playing with new wildcats) and we've already gotten to the practical limit of handguns with things like the 460sw, 500sw, the Linbaughs, ect...

We are talking about catridges that put out similar energy to a freakin' 308, from a handgun! Of course, then there is this thing....

Omg I love how he domes himself with it...
