No more Vortex for me

What a waste of good breathe arguing with you.... I do have a good relationship with the guys at Vortex, but so do I with the people at S&B in Germany - and I think the Gen 2 Razor is better value for money.

And I used US pricing just as a comparison.... But You read into everything what ever you want anyway.

I'm done arguing with a troll. You probably do not even own any of the above to have a solid opinion anyway.

x2. I'm sick of trying to have a reasonable conversation with Kidd X as well. It's worse than having a hunting conversation with a Vegan...and that's saying something

Why would you discuss US pricing when we aren't in the USA??? It's a simple question.

Your argument is a little flawed.... There's a reason the Razor HD II sells so well - it's US$2499 for a 4.5-27x56 version - the S&B PMII 3-27x56 is between US$4999 and US$6999. The Nightforce Beast 5-25x56 is US$3800, the Tangent Theta 5-25x56 is US$4400. Swaro and Zeiss don't really offer anything comparable. Hensoldt 3.5-26x56 is US$6999.

The "old" S&B PMII 5-25x56 that's been around for ages, is around US$3300.... Check EuroOptic prices in the US for yourself.

Vortex overpriced??? Yes, in Canada it might be stupidly priced by some money hungry dealers.... But it's a GREAT scope, and for the money, pretty much unbeatable. And comes with lifetime warranty.

S&B PMII, for all that money, only has a MEASLY 2 year warranty. I own quite a few S&B PMII's, and I own a Razor Gen II, and I prefer my Razor to the S&B's.

I have had 3 S&B PMII "failures" that needed to be sent back to S&B in 2011 and 2012, and fortunately I got my money back from them - not something they like to admit. LOL

With reference to your comment on Canadian pricing on the Vortex scopes being "stupidly priced by some money hungry dealers" I can only say that the prices listed are Canadian MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) set by the exclusive Canadian distributor of Vortex. It is notable that many (most) optics (rifle scopes) are more money in Canada than the USA even taking into consideration the currency exchange. Phil.

Sorry, should have qualified it - the "some dealers" I was referring to, are charging over $3850 plus shipping and tax.... LOL

As for the rest, I fully understand the logic and pricing strategies - it was more to try and compare Vortex's prices in US against their peers, and then Vortex prices in CA against the peers. :)

funny: when the dollar is par its great value....when its 1.35 its a rip-off
Its not Vortex fault the CDN/USD is S**T

No, but they do set strict minimum pricing structure for any dealer....sell below that and you will no longer be able to sell their products. Again, this all ties into their marketing strategy of charging way too much for their products.

Having said that, the Vortex line is still one of the best performing brands of optics we sell and consumer demand is high even while "charging way too much for their products". Ultimately consumers will determine if this is the correct price and marketing strategy ...so far it seems to be working just fine. Phil.

The prices are appealing when compared to some top brands. The value for that price is just no there and it's this lack of knowledge that Vortex capitalizes on. The margins are high for dealers as well which turns them into free salesman for Vortex.

Fully agree Phil - they sell well globally, not just in Canada. The South African market loves Vortex as well, and that market is huge for hunting scopes.

I think with the current Philippines/USA relations you are going to see a change in the quality of the Diamondback and Viper lines which are probably the best selling lines. If they shift production to China there will be a drop, Japan a gain.
Can you comment on the failure rates with the Vortex scopes you sell?

I run a vortex PST EBR 2C ret, ffp, 6-24x

I find it up to par with nightforce NXS and other higher end scope brands??

my scope is about 1250-1400$ these days....

can you convince to me ive purchased crap, crap thats sitting ontop of my cadex .308 rifle?

im listening :)

Ive owned a PST and NXS, Guess which one didnt break ? ... and No they are not even close in quality... lol...

I kept the NXS and live happily ever after.

I own both and the Nightforce broke , not my vortex PST. My PST has been loaned to various friends, scratched and banged up quite a bit and can you imagine it still runs 100%?

The Nightforce on the other hand....

Vortex is 100%, don't listen to the haters, do research and buy with confidence

Out of 3 Vortex products I did 3 RMA's. So yes its 100%... LMFAO... :)

What happened to the Nightforce ? and how was the RMA experience ?
