Hi, I have a Luger dated 1936 but there are no Nazi eagle marks on it. but it does have other markings

The magazine that came with it does not match the gun but it has the one of the Nazi stamps

The barrel does not match the rest of the pistol. On the top of it, it is marked S/42 ( Mauser?) any information would be awesome thanks

Those are early military proofs for Mauser. Magazine is for a later luger ( the matching magazine for my 1937 s/42 has that proof ). The + denotes that this is a spare magazine for a Luger.

As the newly elected NSDAP government wanted to re- arm in violation of the treaty of Versailles, Hitler wanted to keep secret military production. A Nazi proof mark might be discovered and the So-called Allies might take action against them before they were ready. As it was the Allies were timid, wanted to commiserate rather than fight and Hiter moved on to his next objective. All the while Germany was heavily rearming and Luger production was increasing. A little further on the OKH realized the Luger was mostly doomed and overpriced and sought to look for alternatives which paved the way for the Walther P38.

To be fair the P-08 is only the German Army designation for it. The most 'correct' name for it would probably be the Parabellum-Pistol(e). Everyone had a different name (German Navy P-04 etc.) for it and ironically the one it is most well known as the 'Luger' (after the inventor) was never one of the proper names for it.
