No shortage of ammo in canada

If you don't reload and rely on factory ammo, better grab as much as you can afford now as you might find yourself SOL. Ammo won't go bad if stored properly and it isn't going to get cheaper. If you do reload, stock up on components now. I learned the hard way last time, now I'm set for the next few years.

so a lot of Americans are stocking up on ammos, are they going to use them? a revolution?

it's like the toilet paper scare, or even groceries,

so in a few months, after the election, there are going to be a glut in the US for all calibres and ammo's going to be so cheap.

Once you have been around the supply and demand of the ammunition and gun business a few years you realize that these things tend to repeat themselves. While US internal supply starts to run low during these perceived panic buying situations (like in the Obama years after any mass shooting) Canadian supplies tend to take longer to reach a shortage situation however after initial sell through of many common (and popular) calibers, the shortages eventually hit Canada with shortfalls in supplies and somethings not available at all. Canadian distributors are given certain percentages (relatively small compared to the US) on yearly contract basis but after an event like the Democrats getting back in power and starting to talk gun control again , a significant amount of product is kept in the USA rather than export it. The prices will go up at the manufacturing and distribution levels and even if the the demand eventually slows down there will not be " ammo going to be so cheap". Phil.

Canadian Tire here is pretty freaking picked clean. I just wanted a box of 20ga to bust some clay, no dice, and no dice on many other calibers. The counter guy laughed and said "Good luck" when I told him I'd have to order some online.

It's coming. Convert those useless Trudollars into tasty canned lead before the world implodes.

4 hours north of you the CT is stocked completely. Prices aren't amazing but not quite insane either. Really though, we will get hit hard. Using CT as a gauge is pretty silly.

CT inventory mgmt system is archaic. They're only still around cause they've been around since the dawn of time & are in some remote locations where it's not terribly enticing for newer entrants to go.

Reloading supplies seem to be drying up. Common 308 and 223 rifle powders are dwindling, primers, and even bulk Bullets. Might be a coincidence or a sign of the times and what’s to come. Im
not sure if primer suppliers can out produce the factory ammo plants demands that are ramping up production to help meet demand in the US.

I do not believe that guns and ammo are controlled by the same system. :runaway:

This is exactly what I am referring to. At present most retail stores and Canadian distributors are in pretty good shape for inventory however we were recently advised of a 12% increase in price on guns and ammo from some distributors. Now remember that not all of this inventory just showed up at the distribution level as a some was existing already. We personally have fairly deep inventory levels that will protect us for a while and hope to retain present retail prices but at some point we will have to replace the stuff we have sold out. We are trying to negotiate reasonable price increases with some distributors but others are just raising their prices hoping retailers will buy no matter what. Time will tell. Phil.

There is a lag Padawan between what happens in the states and what happens here. If ammunition manufacturers can not supply Their customers in the states they certainly won’t be able to supply their customers in Canada.

I have heard through the grapevine from multiple retailers that US manufactured 9mm at the distribution level is running low (Federal/Blazer/Rem/Win). A new shipment from Federal/Blazer is not expected until at least January. Most of the major overseas manufacturers (S&B, PMC, Fiocchi) also ship to the US where currently a case of 9mm is selling for $300-600 USD. At minimum, I would expect an increase in Canada of an additional 30% over the next few months.

My first year on CGN ( 2011 ), i bought pallets of each cal... 9mm / 40 /44mag /357 mag / 223 /. Price were low, shooting was cheap. Shooting is more frugal nowaday. Also bought a pallet of Hirt 74 308 from Marstar .

In 2020 the Benelli M4 in the picture is worth 3K all in alone... Times are changing.

If everyone operated as efficiently as yourselves the situation likely wouldn't get as bad as it may. I frequent your store often for someone who lives seven hours away and even during the height of the last panic you managed to stay reasonable on most items where other retailers were selling for 50% or even much more over their old prices...

I just picked up a new rifle and 5 boxes of ammo. Based on my observations, the local shop, Cabela's, and Canadian Tire are all full of ammo right now. Lots of 9mm and .223. Tons of hunting ammo. The only thing really missing is decent quantities of match-grade ammo.

The main reason we still have ammo is 2 fold. There is a pandemic and people are not going to the range as often and secondly most of the popular AR 5.56 rifles are now prohib.
