I'll tell you something else about Canadian warranty....unless you buy from a select few dealers that do in house warranty, you are looking at months to years for warranty repair service. You are better off fixing yourself on your own dime...

Yes iam being a bit cheap these days lol I admit it!.......i was just shocked that they wouldn't offer a warranty to Canada.......reguardless of myself thinking about buying half ass broken firearms...... Its still shock And awe to me to find out they do not offer warranty.... At one point I was gonna pay full pull for an XDM not Any more

I know MD Charlton offers smith And Wesson Canada warranty

What about Ruger? Mossberg? Remington? HK? Canada warranty from these companies?

I bought my M1A used...swallowed the hype on the internet (my bad) stating they would cover warranty issues even if you were not the original owner.
Rifle was sold to me "like new" and it was. Bought a used Leupold scope , had issues they fixed it no problem. I just want people to be aware...don't fall for the story that Springfield is king and will look after you no matter what. I fix my own but some may need to spend considerable money to have a rifle fixed that they think they are paying a premium for to get the factory no questions asked warranty.

They are all pretty bad if you have to deal with warranty center rather then a good dealer. One fellow is 2+ years with a Para on here, another is 1+ years with S&W.
Personally I don't even think about warranty when buying a gun. I tend to stick with common pistols that I can easily source parts for, and I don't really buy any boutique type guns. 1911's, Glocks, Beretta 92, Ruger .22's for example...something breaks I'll fix it.

Thanks for the sensible offer Harry but i will keep them as part of my 308 collection... Still 42 to buy to reach the magical 100th 308 rifle... JP.
 
The thing I find humourous about this thread is that their 1911s are generally either good enough not to worry about, or user-serviceable if something goes wrong.

So I was thinking, "who cares?"

XDs are so far off the map as far as I'm concerned that I had totally forgotten Springfield was still doing them.

Best part...they also don't sell parts in any sort of quantity, so not only will they not fix them, they won't let you fix them either.
 
At one time or another pretty much every gun I have owned has had issues, I shoot them a lot and am usually too cheap to buy new so I expect the ocassional issue. I still like my M1A. Just want people to be aware, don't fall for the internet hype about the magic warranty. I upgraded my Norinco with an M1A bolt and medium barrel so obviously I feel comfortable with the quality of SOME of thier parts. Mind you I haven't shot it yet with the upgrades.:d:d And if I have problems it will be the gun plumber (me) not the gun parts!!!

I wonder if one were to buy a Springfield from an importer like IRG or Prophet River if they'd be able to send it back to the U.S. for warranty work.
 
That's nuts..... 2+ years to fix a para and 1+ years for a smith......I really really hope I will never need to deal with warranty work....
Geez its worse than what I thought.....its probably 1/1000 a firearms needs warranty work anyways
 
That's a shame to hear. I owned a Springfield 1911A1 GI for a while and I have to say it was my favourite 1911.

For a 1911 it's not really a big deal. What can really go wrong with them, and parts are very available and cheap.

For an XD or another "proprietary" design though, it's a different story.
 
Even top name brands have parts and warrenty issues I can think of a few.. but trying to limit a send for warrenty issue is just a prudent thing to do..or else find a good gun smith
