While I was sizing some 243 I noticed that some of the shoulders had indentations. I know from previous experience that my vent hole must be plugged. But there is no vent hole. Is this normal for Redding dies?

As Stubblejumper said, also to much lube causes this.

Agree. Too much lubricant will give dents on the case shoulders. What lube are you using? Try Imperial Sizing Die Wax. A little bit goes a long, long way, and no dents.

I am using Hornady One Shot in the aerosol can. I have been using it for a long time with no issues. The dies are brand new and this is the first time I have used them.

Do not lube the shoulder with anything!!
This is an issue with spray-on lubes.
It is hard to avoid getting lube on the shoulder of the case
I have many diesets without vent holes, and never get dents.
I use Imperial sizing wax as well.
