No1Mk3* problem with safety

Basically, the thing just "jumps off" on me. Everything is nice and smooth with the bolt out of the rifle so it doesn't look like it binds anywhere, but when I install the bolt and try to flip on the safety it just pops right off as soon as I take my thumb off of it. Both when the action is cocked and uncocked. What gives ?

You've probably put it in wrong. CHeck out the surplus rifle dissassembly guide. They show how the safety switch has to be oriented wit the little ring that it slies into.

There are about 40 zillion ways to assemble the two pieces of the safety, all of them WRONG.
There is ONE right way to do it.
