I traded for this 22LR rolling block. I assume it is a Remington No.2 based on pictures, but not 100% sure.

It's long, and heavy. It has no markings other then a 4 digit number on the bottom of the tang, and some pattern years.

It has a 33.5" Octagon barrel, with globe front sight, it is missing the rear sight.

Definitely a #2. Nice find!

Thanks, I never had a rolling block before. Is there suppose to be spring tension on the breech? I can flop it back and forth with ease.

I suspect that springs lost tension... Because watching videos of some Remington rolling block, it clicks back, and forward.

Rolling blocks are awesome. Does your eject or just extract? I have a No. 2, No. 4 and a No. 5, and they are just neatest guns, especially the No. 4.

That is a loooong barrel. Is it original?

Not sure, has a 33.5" barrel, and appears to be tapered.

But there zero markings on the barrel. Other then there was a 5 on the trigger housing, a 4 digit number on the tang, and bunch of patent dates.

It has 2 D&T holes with a 1.4 ish hole spacing, that has 2 plug screws in it.

Does yours have a rear sight ? I was thinking since I have a small Ruger 1022 dovetail rail, that lines up with 2 of the .860 holes, that I'll mount a Williams fp-ag on it.

I shot it when I picked up, but had a sticky chamber. So it just would extract. I cleaned the barrel, and used spent cases, and still just extracts with the new repro sear/block spring.

Looking forward to a report with a Williams on the back, it should group nicely.

The only issue I see with this. I might not be able to get the rear sight down enough, or not have a tall enough front.

Found some stuff to rig up a scope setup.. I know, I know.. blasphemy..

If you're going for a scope...should go with one close to the same era.
Even a 20mm Weaver or Lyman would be okay.

Sometimes you get lucky...
Found this Mossberg No.8a 2 1/2x scope at a very good price.
Had to restore it, but turned out okay.
(didn't mean to derail your thread)

Mossberg 45b with 8a scope.

I'm still searching for a tang sight. So I cut down the Ruger 10/22 dual mounting rail. Lowest I can do without machining. And I got this rear sight coming.

D&T the barrel for 1 more hole, to secure the top rail on.

Had to purchase a new front sight. But finally got it to zero.
