Is there any difference between them? Someone told me today that they are shaped differently.

And if anyone has an extra lying around, with a swivel screw, I need!!

Thanks!

The rear handguard ring is the same. The band is different. I just did a job this morning where I put a stock set on a No5 for a chap. His band won't fit and turned out to be a No4. The No4 is oval and slightly larger than the squarish No5. I did ask this same question on www.milsurp.com. The lads there say they're different. I had to take the one of my No5 to see if it fit and measure up against those in my parts supply to find the correct one. Hope this help. Ron

Thanks Ron. That's interesting and I'll certainly have a look at milsurps.com. I know there were different versions of that band for the No4 (forged vs stamped etc), I still wonder why they would have decided to make ones of significantly different size and shape for the No5.

This being said, even if only talking about the band for the No4, shape and size can vary (that's what I find anyways when looking at many bands I have here, and that I've had in the past). Add to that the fact that, between two No4 rifles, the exact depth of the groove in which the band goes varies. So final fitting, I guess, always has to be adjusted... Which is part of the charm of the Lee Enfields!
