no4 extracor springs

Ordered some unissued extractors and springs, trying to fit a nice #3 bare LB head I picked up.
Anybody know why there are 2 different spring lengths ? Was one meant for certain heads or just typical enfield manufacturing every part just a little different from different factories.
Its hard enough to get the spring in there, really dont want ro have the wrong one in.

Is so, yes they are slightly different and it is normal to find differences in their general shape and length as can be seen from these pictures.
 
Yeah I recieved both sizes in a set, I guess they are equal in their function no one better than the other.

Its hard enough to get the spring in there, really dont want ro have the wrong one in.

The spring will slide in from the front of the extractor. Use a little lubricant.
New reproduction springs may be a little wide and need to be fitted.
The procedure is to install the extractor with bolt, then slide the spring in from the front of the bolt face.
