Doing some work on my most recent Enfield. nothing to major, in a previous life it got a generous coating of varnish. So I stripped it down and have been laying the BLO to it, and this is the end result.

From this I figure it started life as a No4 MK1 and was converted to a MK2 during a FTR.
What does the (F) mean and is the /52 the year it was FTRed

FTRed by ROF Fazakerley?

Proofing stamped on the barrel end? .303, 18.5 tons, and 2,??". No other marks on the barrel. It is a 5 groove barrel that looks brand new

And last, the front site does not have the screw?? to loosen with the special tool to move the front sight

Your foresight band is a mark 2. It is a friction fit for ease of manufacturing. The F is for Royal Ordnance factory Fazakerley
It was factory through repaired (rebuilt) in 52
The markings on the muzzel end are for commercial export when it was surplused out to dealers.
