Any one know a gunsmith that does these conversions. I have seen a few converted rifles and no one wants the 303 so I want to make her into the 45-70. Has anyone used one? Any feedeing problems?

The action is not too weak but its not much harder to find a No.4 sporter so its worthwhile to have the work done on a stronger action.

Im waiting that specific job to be completed on a no.4 I sent to a Smith in Northern Bc.

i have an old no1 that i was going to bastardize anyway.. maybe a conversion to 45-70 is in order... or maybe i will actually restore this rifle and bastardize a no4 instead..

In a 2002 issue of THE OUTDOOR EDGE a B.C. Wildlife Ass. publication(comes with membership) there was an article about a NO.5 converted to .45-70 by a Saskatoon gunsmith by the name of CRAIG DOUGLAS. Maybe a phone number search in Saskatoon will turn up the phone number and address. Did a search , there is a Ac Douglas Gunsmithing in Saskatoon 306-652-7828 may not be the same one as in the 5 year old magazine, but all you can do is ask.
