I i have a No4 MK1 but the bolt is from a MK2 it seems to work fine has decent groups at 100 yards, i have put probably 60 rounds through it. Just wondering if there is a difference between the bolts that i should know about?
Stamped MK II on the right side of the cocking piece? That refers to the model of the cocking piece.
Robbed from a Mk. II rifle?
Mk.1 cocking piece had a distinctive mushroom head, the Mk.2 was similar to the mid-late WW1 SMLE cocking piece. Mk.1 was used only on very early production, and is rarely seen. There was a Mk.3 cocking piece, that omitted the grasping grooves. Never actually saw one.
