I have a what I think is a British No4Mk1. I have been looking at websites and other threads here but have not found waht I am looking for.

It is an FTR which I would say is a factory total refurb. The stamping o the action is:

NO4MK1 (F) FTR
/47 MA2###x

Does anyone know who made it? I have a Longrbranch and do not need 2 so I am trying to get some info on it before I try to sell it.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Hard to tell from this but the NO4Mk1 (F) FTR /47 means that it was Factory Thorough Refurbed in 1947, at ROF Fazakerley. If this is the same serial number on the bolt or receiver band then it was originally made at ROF Fazakerley indicated by the leading 2.

Being an early refurb in 1947, worn out parts were most likely just replaced and as many original parts were kept intact as possible. The trigger should still be hung on the trigger guard and the fore stock band near the rear of the forestock should be present. It wasn't until 1952 that the refurb program changed over to install the triggers on the receiver. These were designated Mk.1/2 if originally No.4 Mk.1 and Mk.1/3 if originally No.4 Mk.1*

Thank you for that article; I read much of what would address this one. I am almost positive the trigger is hung on the trigger guard and the band it present.

Does anyone have any idea what something like this is worth?

Being a 1947 refurb I’m guessing the band is present and that the trigger is hung on the trigger guard. Both those things are true of my 1948 refurb. FTR are not scoffed at like the K98 reworks are so they don’t lose much value. I also believe the early FTR rifles to be more rare than the later FTR, and they are closer to original factory condition. Fazakerley rifles are the most rare Enfields but only slightly more than Maltby and Shirley. If in excellent condition maybe 8-900

She is not new, but the barrel is really nice and the wood could be in worse shape. You can see the patches if you look closely at the photos.

Any matching serial numbers? I recently paid $850 for one in similar shape, but it had all matching serial numbers on receiver, stock, and bolt, and also came with a bayonet and sling. I would say maybe around $775 with matching serials, and $700 without.

The milled micrometer sight should add some value, they are $100 bucks alone on eBay

Nice Fazakerly No4 but if your Longbranch is in similar condition, I would keep the LB. They're a bit more desirable in Canada than the British or Savage made No4s.

The Longbranch is staying that is for sure. It is my daughter's if she wants it when she is older.

Looking to get rid of the Brit as I am running out of space and have another gun on the way, and cannot justify 2 Enfields when I rarely shoot 1 (shot the Brit 13 years ago).
