No4 MK1 with 18.6'' barrel

Is it true, that No4 MK1 with a barrel cut down to 18.6'' is very loud and kicks like a mule?

A wee bit loud, nice fire ball with the right ammo. Kick like a mule only if you let it.

I have a number of carbines in 303 and similar calibers.

I find that sometimes they "bark" with a painful blast. This extra noise seems to depend on the powder.

If I want to hunt with a shorty (no muffs), I make sure the powder is not one that barks and makes my ears ring.

As for kick, it is a function of rifle weight, stock shape and how firmly you hold the rifle.

I wouldn't say a No.4Mk.1 with it's barrel cut to 18.6" kicks like a mule. I'd say it kicks like a No.5.
