Okay I'm noob at this, please don't flame me if it's a gimme/easy as pie but...

I just received my POF no4 and I got trouble closing the bolt. It seems as when I push the bolt forward to the end of the action, it doesn't close and snap back to open. The only way to make it stay locked is to push the bolt to the max and pull the trigger or put the safety on.

Maybe it's because the action is a little dirty, I intend on cleaning it. However, I don't get why a little dirt would prevent from closing the bolt. I don't wanna ruin it by being rude with the action. I got an m44, totally different action, and I got no problem whatsoever.

Please, oh mighty spirits of CGN, enlight my darkness.

Press on the small lever at the rear of the receiver bridge and push down the bolt so it rides on the guide rail for the bolt head. Once everything is ligned up the bolt will function normally.

Okay now I feel a mix of happiness and stupidity flowing ....

Thanks guys, I guess that's the essence of a forum, helping noobs unnoob themselves!

Enfield bolts

If the bolt installs normally, but won't close, chances are the bolt is in storage mode!

Pull back on the end of the bolt and rotate it clockwise (you can turn it anti-clockwise to take the load off the firing pin spring when you are finished shooting) That should fix it!

Will do for sure, and I'll certainly ask other things someday too.

Perhaps download a complete set of manuals for the Lee Enfield, which includes operating and armourer's maintenance instructions.

The manuals may be found in the Technical Articles for Milsurp Collectors and Re-loaders (click here)http://www.milsurps.com/forumdisplay.php?f=25

Note: The difference between the 1991 set of No.4 Manuals and 2002 No.4 (All Marks) .303 Rifle Manuals, is that the 1991 manual contains armourer's information on how to properly "bed" the No.4 rifle, whereas the newer 2002 manual does not.

Could have been worst. You could be facing 5000 chinese with PPSHs rushing you're company position and be wondering how do i get this GD bolt to close....................!! Circa Korea 1951.

"...Circa Korea 1951..." Third time the PPCLI did that. Korea ceeded an acre to Canada too. Took 8 years for the Canadian Government to allow the Regm't to wear the Presidential Unit Citation(CMOH awarded to a unit).
"...chances are the bolt is in storage mode..." No such thing. The bolt won't install at all if the striker isn't right.
