I'm looking at an upcoming auction site and noticed a No4 MK2 (F) on the listing. I'm not very familiar with them, but the picture shows something I've never seen on a SMLE.

I'm guessing it's a bubba add on, but you tell me?

Most No 4 magazines have a little drain hole on the bottom, near the trigger guard. It appears Mr. Bubba has added a lovely nut/bolt combo with a custom flange washer thingy. I guess this will help keep the magazine standing upright when removed from the rifle. This is a problem I have suffered from greatly - super idea!:onCrack:

I think I should buy the rifle then and patent the "addition". Sounds like there could be many a Lee owner experiencing the same issue with no clear way of solving it.

I know I'll be adding it to my other three Lee's.

LOL! Bubba, you gotta love em'.

Bubba's idea of a grip to enable him to remove the mag.

A standard mag would have been much simpler, and better.

I don't remember my mags being that short... was this a "Shorter Mag, Short Mag Lee Enfield?", or did I just luck out and had 10-rounders?

Aftermarket 5 round magazine. You can see the name on the bottom of it. Pretty well a standard item on some Parker Hale sporterized rifles, but some were made in Japan too.

Someone added a piece on it so they could easily get it out of the rifle.

Really not worthy of a WTF though!

I'm pretty sure you can see the stamping on the bottom where it says MADE IN ENGLAND. Parker-Hale, aftermarket, for converted sporting rifles.

Fellow walked in here yesterday with a Number 4 conversion, Savage, mixmaster, really nice shape, excellent 2-grove barrel, lovely wood. Got it at a gun show, 70 clams. Guy rooked him, forgot to mention the broken casing in the chamber. Thing was crudded solid, too, difficult to work the bolt at all. He thought he got taken, so I mentioned that the commercial PH 5-round magazine was worth about 60 bucks, so he got a heck of a nice rifle for 10 dollars. Dumped a little oil on the bolt and it cycled easily and MUCH faster than he thought possible. I'll pull the stuck case out tonight and scrub some of the greebles outta the barrel and his wife will have a nice rifle. She's a small girl, very slight, so I might do her up a box of 130s and put on a Bantam butt so she doesn't get kicked into the middle of next week. Might be just an old PH Bubba to some folk, but it will put meat on the table for their grandchildren with just a LITTLE bit of maintenance.
