Hello All. Happy New Year. Has anyone here ordered the no4/no5 forestock kit. Its the kit that they sell to make a pseudo No5.Trying to get some feedback before I spend some cash.Thanks.

I bought the complete wood kit. There was some handfitting that had to be done as the wood is finished slightly oversized. Mine was a very blonde color but dyed well. TRook little effort in fitting up the fore end to the metal. The project turned out nice for me. Good luck! Joe

I haven't ordered it but I recently bought a Jungle Carbine .22 conversion made from a Maltby No 4 mk I. It had that kit on it.
The butt is okay, the forend is kind of amateurish, the fit could be better. However, it's available and premade.

I bought a no1Mk3 wood kit. The wood didn't match well because the lower forestock was stained much heavier than the rest, they never wiped it off. I'm disappointed with the poor match, wouldn't have been so bad if it were natural. :(
Btw, any advice on a non-destructive method of lightening the stain would be appreciated.

cheers,
Mike

I should have been more clear, the wood I bought was from numrich, I wasn't trying to hijack the thread...

But thanks for the advice, it seems to be the way to go, too bad it doesn't look natural. :runaway: Maybe linseed oil over the stain will help.

cheers,
Mike
