I have a No4 sporter that fell over and the top of the aperture on the sight broke off. Has anyone found a reasonable way to repair these (I still have the broken piece). I want to repair it and see if it shoots before spending money on a new sight or a magazine for it. Thanks for any help.:)

The rear sights are so common that all you do is find another one.

Agreed. Find another. Welding the pieces back together and grinding them down and then trying to make the gradations look right would be way more work than it's worth.

I also agree with skirson and cantom. Look for a replacement. They are so common and it would be a real pain in the%^&*( to try and fix it and do it right. Check with your local gun shop, or go to the local gun shows. You should be able to find sights and swap out your broken one.

Isn't there a gun show coming up in Pigs Gorge?Go to the show and take your sight with you.And look around.Don't be afraid to look in all the litle parts bins or ask for help.Just don't buy the first one you see it may be the most expensive one.

I second the silver solder option if you are up for some tinkering. JB weld would be faster but perhaps not as secure.

No harm in trying to repair it IMHO. You can always get a replacement if it doesn't work out.

The 'L' shaped battle sight or the ladder type? Marstar wants $15 for the former. Gunparts wants $24.85US for a new ladder style.
