Non chinese M-14

oldsmobiler has a really nice lrb- m14 doctor can make you one but expensive like heck

In the last 6 months, I've seen 2 american M14s show up on the EE for $800. These were pre-ban M14 made by Federal Ordnance in the 80s. I don't know the specifics, but the receivers were made in the US and marked "US Rifle 7.62". You could try posting an WTB add on the EE who knows, somebody might have one wanting to sell it.

Damn expensive.

Guess I wont be getting an M-14 :(

Awwwwwww dont be like that

A Chinese one is better then not having a M14 ;) Just replace the junk parts with US ones :) Mine looks pretty sweet now with its hand oiled walnut stock.

If your not buy Chinese out of hate for the country. Well am sure your $400 wont help them that much since the USA owes the a few billion :p

An M-14 is a select fire battle rifle that was usually used in semi-auto only. However, because it was designed as FA, it's a 12(3) prohibited.
Usually with the issue fibreglas stock. They're kind of neat, but not terribly accurate. (Milsurps are like that. Battle rifles and their ammo aren't made for great accuracy.) The light weight of the fibreglas stock causes excessive muzzle jump too. Felt recoil is minimal though.
Nobody but the U.S. and its 'Cold War' clients used 'em anyway. Everybody else, for the most part, didn't want it and opted for some flavour of FN FAL. The U.S. went with the M14 for political reasons too. Then they jammed the 7.62 cartridge down other NATO country's throats. They repeated that in the mid-60's with the 5.56. Another political decision.
"...sounds like the Italian made rifles..." Most likely government interference. Likely civil servants making law by regulation. Not necessarily ours though. EU countries have extremely restrictive export rules. Italy, as I recall, says none for anything remotely military.

Can't argue that point. Nothing wrong with my Norinco M-14.

LOOng time ago, I saw a couple of Century Internationals, built on American, non military receivers, but the parts looked like they could have been the Taiwanese version. Military markings on the parts and the stocks resembled clubs.:D
