Does anyone know if you can purchase bean-bag or other similar non lethal 12 gauge ammo? Or have i just watched to many movies and it is a rediculous idea?

If you can find it, you can buy it... problem is, in my limited experience looking for it, it's hard to find. Anyone have any ideas?

Use the search feature it comes up from time to time. They're available, but very expensive. Unless you want them for shots and giggles though, I'd recommend not shooting anyone that doesn't need to die.

make some lol, i did befor and i tested it on my leg from 5ft away lol , it left a good mark... , (did it 4 months ago and still have a scab)

Buddy got some in BC a couple of years ago, but it was a pain in the butt. He found the contact through the local CO. He works for Gov. though and had a "legit" use for them, so I do not know how helpful the cops or CO's would be. If I talk to him soon, I will ask where he got them.

I have purchased, beanbags, crackers and rubber rockets from Margo Supplies in Alberta in the past. A quick google search shows they still have them.

As pointed out by others above, unless someone else is footing the bill, they are way too expensive to be fun.

Margo Supplies is your best bet out west- Last I checked they had a good selection for animal control. Remember- all of those types of munitions are labled "sub-lethal" or "less than lethal" -not "non-lethal". They all can be deadly, depending on how far you are from a target and where you hit it. (A head shot with a bean bag round from a 12g or a rubber bullet at 15 yards or closer will likely cause a fatality, intended or not). Iv'e seen bears skinned that were carting rubber bullets in their pelts that sunk in two inches or more.

Looking at those prices, your better off just buying fireworks. For the crackers and bangers and things that go boom.

I've been told that the Nova Scotia DNR will GIVE you less than lethal 12g. shells for use in bear defense so that you can legally carry a 12g. shotgun in bear country without a hunting license. If they're less than lethal for a bear they might also be considered the same for a human, but I could be mistaken.
