I've been shooting 'gophers' in Alberta the past few springs, which requires no license etc.

A friend of mine from NL asked what he needed to hunt ducks and geese in Alberta as a non-resident, but I have never done that.

He does have family in Alberta, so maybe can play that angle, but they are not hunters themselves.

I am Googling it, but does anyone know off hand what he will need? Small game licenses here on the island can be bought at corner stores if you are a resident (proof of id required. I use my driver's license).

Could he go as a guest of his family if he and another(s) have a license?

Thanks.

He needs to purchase an Alberta WIN card which stands for Wildlife Identification Number. He needs this to purchase an Alberta Hunting License. If he has a migratory license from any province it is good anywhere in Canada. You do not have to hunt with an Alberta resident or a guide to hunt migratory in Alberta.
