I just got an Olympia Arms AR recently and love the thing. Up until a few months ago there was no talk of this assault rifle ban and was considering getting a cz858 .Was a bit dissapointed in found out about the armalite 180b was non restricted ,as could use that one off the range which would have been fun. Or for varmint shooting at my farm or wifes farm.
Now I have sick feeling in my stomach that the money I just spent on my ar is down the tubes, that they will confiscate it with no compensation and will not grandfather it ,just outright ban.
I also am getting the same sick feeling about my handguns that just recently bought. I was out of the hobby for like 15 years and just got back in heavy. New 45 ruger pistol, 22 ruger pistol and was planning 45 ruger colt, 44 magnum ruger super redhawk and 9mm glock and few more long guns. Now backing off for at least next while,till after the election and maybe longer.
Might buy a 30/30 winchester, shotgun, not even sure a marine is safe anymore, and maybe a 308 bolt action rifle.
The 44 magnum,colt 45 could be banned and also doubt we would get any monetary compensation. We don't have the powerful organizations in canda like in the US. The government should be required to pay fair compensation for any gun that was bought 100% legally . Its just rediculous that we are at the whim of whatever government decides. There is another incident at a school or something and bam..ban the assualt rifles or ban handguns..whatever..
I dont' think they would ever succeed in banning shotguns, 22 rifles and bolt action rifles. There will always be hunters and people that need guns for defence in the rough parts of country. I hope a few of these gun banning freaks get eaten by a grillzy camping sometime or killed by punks armed with illegal guns or even just bats and chains and knives ,or have their home invaded . I hope they watch their wives and children raped and killed and die a slow death for disarming all of us legal owners with no crimnal records. I am seriously thinking of moving out of this country which gets stupider every year and its not just the gun issue.
The government is always doing the dumb things. Billion dollar useless registry. Worrying about a few street racers when drunk driving or even cell phone use by drivers kills way way more people.
Young offenders walk away , repeat criminals also get light sentences or off very lightly. Make gun use in a crime instant 20 years no parole. Do something about the gang problems. Underground hit squads if need be. They pass these stupid laws against guns why not some laws against gangs.
I just don't have good feelings .I would not buy an ar15 or variant now, an ak47 variant or whatever the cz is now..I would not even buy a handgun right now.
Stick to 22 and hope they dont' allow only single shot 22s. a shotgun might be ok in normal barrel length. A bolt action rifle might be ok.
Sucks to be a Canadian these days. Hope I'm wrong but predict assualt rifles will be gone first in all shapes and forms no more slipping thru the cracks. And then handguns will be banned next.
Then maybe years from now we might finally swing the other way if enough brutal home invasions get in the news and other equally horrible gang crimes.
You are just as dead if they beat you over the head with a baseball bat as you are if they shoot you with a gun. And as long as guns are plentiful south of the border the criminals will still be getting them pretty easily. And kung fu is not going to help you much ,bullets are a bit faster than hands. Well in the real world..on tv well..
20 year no parole sentence for use of gun in any crime and life for any gun crime that results in death would be a good first step.Punish the criminals not the legal gun owners.Sellers of illegal guns could also get 10 years no parole first offence more for repeat.
Concealed carry should be looked at. Seems it is working and reducing gun crime.Anyway sorry to take this so off the topic we have other threads on this.
