Mini-14 because it fires rounds that cut through M1 tanks like a knife through hot butter.

oh please, im sure an AR would be more reliable than a mini14. and nobody uses the forward assist.

Sorry friend, I love AR's and you can say what you will about the accuracy (or lack thereof) of the older Mini-14's but I have seen MANY AR's jam, ftf, fte yada,yada, but I have owned 2 Mini-14's and fired tousands of rounds of every ethnic origin and I have NEVER, EVER seen it fail...NEVER!!!

well dont forget that not all AR's are created equal. that being said, im sure a good milspec AR will outlast any mini-14 in the field. round count is one thing but using it in the field is another. I've seen quite a few ARFOW used and abused like they came out of hell and still work perfectly. Theres a reason why its still used in mil/le all over the world.
what a concept reliability with out sacrificing usefulness (ie accuracy) whats the point of a rifle that fires every time if you at best only have a vague idea of where the projectile is going
(say what you will i have 2 mini-14's and i dislike them so much IF they ever come out of the safe again, it will be to visit the RCMP to be destroyed)

The SU16 is damn close. Its my favourite, for the moment, but there are things I'd like to take from the min14.
Such as the real receiver.
Mini14 can be improved by a gunsmith easier.
SU16F wish list:
Factory sling studs, some kind of metal receiver, ar-style stock from factory w/ changeable ar15 grips, slightly heavier barrel(maybe), gas block sight with a better rear peep sight, threaded barrel, replacement of the bipod forend with a solid - free floated if possible - one.
Better factory magazines.
Added weight, imo, isn't important. It's current weight is enough to get annoying when you have no sling.
Such as the real receiver.
