Non Restricted black rifles (sticky?)

Great thread.

One thing I noticed:

The CZ photo is not correct - that is the Restricted version / Barrel.
The Non-restricted has a much longer barrel.

Similar to this:

Armalite AR-180B

Cost: $1250
Caliber: .223
Availability: Discontinued :(
Criticism: No option for factory picatinny rail. You wil spend BIG$$$ trying to turn it into an AR15

There is also the issue of the front hinge breaking on the AR180B, but aside from a bad batch a while back (which could cause a breakage when firing:eek:), the main cause is letting it slam open. Of course letting it slam open is about the stupidest thing you could do to it.

Oh, and in the description for the M14S/M305, it should be mentioned that new ones are coming in, and that the Springfield M1A is another, more expensive option.

Loved this thread. Read the whole thing.

Sticky for the love of all that is holy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh boy, here I go :stirthepot2:

It would be nice to sticky it but what you have here is a list of "military" looking semi automatic rifles. Now, it doesn't look harming, but if you were an anti and you saw this thread stickied, you would go bat#### crazy and use this thread as visual evidence for the availability of "dangerous" and "evil" weapons of death and misery. How would they do it? Not too hard, just show a picture and say a bunch of half truths and lies to get people on you're side. Pictures is all people need these days. You might go along the lines and say, "hey, anti's would need to see this and get their facts straight." This would be nice if anti's listened to facts rather than run on emotions, but alas, no. IIRC, RCMP and anti's do prowl this website and they would love to get these restricted or prohibited. Rifles like the SA series and XCR are like the secret proverbial #### you to the antigun crowd.

Highly doubt mods would sticky this because of this annoyance to the gun community. This thread will just be referred to from time to time when somebody asks and probably better that way. Like just a simple inquiry rather than appear to be "promoting" the use of "mean" guns.

Ok i'm sure this has been asked before but... why is that tavor non restricted?! isn't the bullpulp design prohibited????

No, taking a 10/22 (or anything else) and making it into a bullpup is prohib BUT a new production rifle that can't fire without it's bullpup stock is legal.

Someone was drinking some strong cool-aid there...

I understand your point but.......

I understand fully what you are saying but IMO if this is indeed the reason the mods haven't made this thread a sticky the reasoning seems uber-lame.

First of all, it's not like it is hidden now. The Anti's or whomever prowling this web site will see this question or some form of it on the first page at the top of the recent threads list certainly weekly and practically daily :bangHead:. I'd also assume they are at least as capable of using the search function as an interested newbie who asks the question for the exact opposite reason. Finally Everything you said could easily apply to the SL8 sticky, The 18B Sticky, The VZ58 Sticky, The Tavor Sticky, the red rifle sticky, the Russian SKS sticky etc etc... and If anything is going to give "them" ideas it's the type 97 sticky....

Again JMHO.

Don't underestimate how lazy or indeed stupid the anti's are.

Have you tried to make sense of the gun laws as they sit?

Their nonsensical approach for scoring guns for the last series of bans was to go through a gun illustrated book and score anything that looked scary.

I'd prefer they had to work to obtain the material for their next round of chicanery, thanks.

I don't think I'm alone in this.

Although I agree... Why do I get the feeling the RCMP would have no problem giving a 'helping hand' pointing them out for the anti's...

I understand what you are saying, but by extension I guess what I'm asking is why wouldn't we apply the identical logic and remove all but about 2 sticky(s) from this topic and every sticky from Red Rifle and Main Battle Rifle threads?

It Is largely public domain information.

But hell. I've actively been here for more than three years and I'm STILL digesting through things i never knew existed. They could try to get help from the RCMP, but lets face it. Not everyone there knows everything about everything either.

Putting it in a single point list is not really in our best interests.

If they want to figure out the forum, the format, and teh search functions they can certainly log in and do so.

But in doing so, they are also going to see a LOT of positive pro-gun arguments and points of common sense along the way.

Hmm... you're probably right. I guess being in Alberta I hear the Anti-Gun arguement alot less and don't see every reference to guns as a potential powder keg of controversy.

I have however seen alot of ignorance in people that I thought were educated about the state of things in Canada. Since I've decided to get back into shooting these kind of issues are coming to my attention though.

I'm in this for all Canadians, regardless of whether they live in the East or West.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket or they'll get crush with one stomp. At least things get spread out to cushion the blow. Also, they act as information on the specific firearm whereas this thread is basically how, where, availability, and how much to get "mean" looking guns.

Well you could think of it that way, or you could think of how many more baby killers we can get into the hands of legal gun owners by threads like this, and by the time the next wave of gun grabbers gets into office there will hopefully be enough owners out there that they'll get grandfathered and not confiscated. Or at least restricted like the AR.

They prohibited the HK G11 rememeber. That's not exactly a common rifle and it still looks scary and it make the prohib list. And that was before internet forums.

It wasn't even in production. But it was in the Gun Digest so in it went. You list it. They ban it.
