By the looks of it, the Cx4 Storm only comes with a 16.6” barrel. To make it non restricted I need a 18.5" barrel? Can I make it myself or I have to buy one?

Yes, I guess you could make it and then have it verified.

I really don't get our laws. The more I read, the less it makes sense. Bullpup stock = evil. Bullpup rifle = no problem. Rifle mags > 5 rounds = evil. 10 round pistol mag in a rifle = no problem. 300 meter accuracy with big mag = evil. 1000 meter accuracy with little mag = no problem. :runaway:

De-restrict restricteds!

The Storm is restricted by barrel length only... the AR15 is restricted by name. Stupid indeed.

I don't think that will change anything. It is classified as restricted and thats that. Think of the ar15, longer barrel doesn't change anything. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Yes, you're wrong. Number of members have BTDT and had the classification changed to Non-Restricted. The barrel length is what makes a Storm "restricted". Change the barrel length and you change it's classifiication. AR's by law, are restricted by name and include all variants of it. Different deal all together.

I asked Epps about this earlier - their reply "Please note that we do not stock Non-Restricted barrels for the Beretta CX4 Storm, as these barrels must be fabricated in our gunsmith shop on an As-Ordered basis. Retail pricing for a completed barrel (fitted, blued) will be $495.00 + taxes. Estimated work time is usually 6 weeks, however we are not performing this type of work until after the current hunt season, which means we will not begin such work until mid- to late-December, with a mid-January delivery timeframe."

Locally (Ladner) Barry does them, little less money for lighter barrel (in stock), little more money for target barrel (wait).

Barry keeps your restricted barrel, Epps gives it back to you.

Am humming and hawing, would be cool to have it non-restricted but money is more than .22 Beretta or 1/2 Browning HP or Chargemaster Combo and quality 1 piece rod...

do I have to buy a longer barrel or I can machine one?

Yes, you can make your own barrel and re-register it yourself.

Once the firearm has been re-registered to non-restricted status, it could never be registered as a restricted firearm again.

You cannot add pieces to the existing barrel to make it longer (e.g. weld a flash hider to the end). The barrel must have continous rifling to qualify for the barrel length (you will need to get a new, longer barrel then make it fit).

:)

weld a fake suppressor:) just have to get to 18.5"

No, you're not dealing with OAL here. We're talking barrel length. A barrel length is established by the distance from the breech face when the action is closed and to where the rifling ends at the muzzle. A flashhider does not make for a longer barrel.

Earlier you spoke of making a barrel yourself, not adding a piece of pipe to the end of your existing one.

Shees ... just get one from ElwoodEpps. :D Don't go confusing us with your PQ logic :D any more than we already are.
