Non-restricted FS2000 just arrived!

What about the original barrel that you take off? Do you give the barrel back to the customer?

Didn`t the original barrel come with a flash hider?

I was wondering this too. If the original barrel comes back with it that helps ease the extra cost considerably for the unrestricted in my eyes.

Anyone who "throws in" an item on your purchase is obviously not giving you their best price to begin with ;)

That is the truth - why the hell is it so hard to get people to believe it?

"If the original barrel comes back with it that helps ease the extra cost considerably for the unrestricted in my eyes."

There's only a five hundred dollar difference between the two - given that someone has to chamber, time and install a new barrel (and has to have the tools to do that, which I'm pretty sure aren't as "cheap" as AR tools) with the correct headspace, entirely apart from sourcing the barrel and importing it from the Paranoid States of America - I'd call that a deal, and bet that the price is already heavily offset.

###y rifle by the way - guaranteed to cause fits for the Wildlife guys when you're shooting Coyotes, big thumbs up!

There lies the rub tho, they are keeping the original barrel that ya you guessed it allready had a FH :)

So its $500 extra plus a brand new factory barrel with FH , not that great a deal.......

The original barrel gets traded to the company that makes the new barrel for us... keep in mind that FN doesn't sell the various parts needed to make the barrel work (extension, etc.) so those parts have to be removed from the old barrel and installed on the new one. We get a credit for allowing him to keep the old barrel and that is already calculated into the pricing... which helps us keep the overall cost down to where you see it.

If you want the old barrel then we can get you one from the next batch we do... but you'd end up paying for it and I can't imagine anyone wanting to do that. The parts have all been stripped from the barrels... the flash hider is a left hand thread and in order to remove it from the barrel has to be drilled off (they are blind pinned by the factory)... like I said, for a price you're welcome to have one if that's what you want.

No thanks, dont want a old or new barrel. I was just asking the questions that :stirthepot2:

Why would he give you a "credit" for what you say is a useless barrel and FH?
No one is going to give you a credit for a useless item.... if anything they would charge you more to remove the parts you say are needed.

I know the auto repair game and there is lots of parts that have core charges that the customers dont know are worth money.

FYI: We have non-restricted FS2000 with the FN flashhider. We get the conversions done by Heron Arms in Ontario who is able to use the original flashhider without extra cost.

I went this way I got keep my barrel and got to have the factory flash hider put on the new barrel. Slightly more money but looks just like the factory fs2000

You are arguing for the sake of arguing... I never said it was "useless" so please don't put words in my mouth... at least be accruate.

What I said was that he gave us a credit for what obviously had value to him and was not something we felt the customer would want... but if a customer wants them they are welcome to them (for a price).

I would point out that our barrels are threaded 1/2 x 28 (standard AR thread pattern) allowing customers to choose any standard muzzle device of their liking... whereas the FN barrel is threaded with their LH thread pattern that only fits their Flash Hiders.

I would also point out that our installed barrel is $100 less than Kodiak's been selling his guns... so even if you add the $14.99 for the flash hider we offer it's still $85 cheaper and you've got a Match Grade barrel with standard AR threads. Also the barrel we sell is made to tighter tolerances than the factory original which helps to improve accuracy.

Lastly... we warranty our guns right here in Canada with support from FN USA... whereas Kodiak basically smiles and tells you to contact FN USA who does not warranty cross border sales directly.

If you don't think it's a good deal then don't buy it... nobody is twisting your arm. You want to "stir the pot" as you called it then go right ahead but at least be accurate.

Eh... it was a valid question dont you think? I take no stand wheather its a good deal or not.

No you did not actually say worthless barrel but you sure did seem offended when someone said maybe a $3399.99 gun should come with a $100 dollar FH and then you proceeded to point out nothing is for free.

I saw no mention of the barrel and pointed it out :stirthepot2:

This is a discussion forum first and a sales forum second IMO . If it ever gets to be the other way around then its a worthless forum.

Thanks Mark, I did not realize there was so much work in switching over the barrel. This totally explains the cost despite not getting the old barrel.

Discussion is never a problem... neither are questions... it's the snide little remarks and comments that don't belong. It's the pleasure that some take in making those half truth twisted statements and then post a "stir the pot" smilies just so no-one misses the point of the post.

The sad part is that too many readers just have no idea what the truth is so they believe a lot of the crap that gets posted... like your post where you stated:

There lies the rub tho, they are keeping the original barrel that ya you guessed it allready had a FH

When in fact the truth is that the "original barrel" needs to be stripped of most parts in order to install the new barrel... the flash hider is blind pinned and left hand thread so of no use on the new barrel... the $500 includes the cost of the custom made extended barrel and the labour involved to strip the old barrel and install the parts and barrel to the gun.

Considering that these barrels in 18" length sell for $379.00 USD in the US and that doesn't include flash hider or installation or currency exchange, export permit, transport costs, or anything else I think it's a great deal. Add to that the fact that we had to pay to have a custom run of barrels done in 18.6" length to allow non-restricted registration.

But heh... according to your post it's "not that great a deal..." and you're quite entitled to your opinion... it's the extra little jabs you like to add on... the words you like to put in my mouth suggesting that I called the take off barrel "useless"... that's what's uncalled for and frankly distasteful.

As for your final comment about this forum becoming "useless"... I would suggest to you that what is most likely to make any forum useless are the purposely twisted posts that spread untruths and misleading or factually incorrect information.

I say what?

Please don't put words in my mouth.

If I got that wrong I apologize... just basing it on what was written on your website:

Unless otherwise stated, Kodiak Outpost Inc makes no expressed or implied warranty whatsoever with respect to any merchandise. The warranties are provided by the manufacturer and are as contained in each manufacturer's package. REQUESTS FOR WARRANTY INFORMATION, REPAIRS, AND CLAIMS SHOULD BE MADE DIRECTLY TO THE MANUFACTURER. Please note that some manufacturers may not have warranty centres in Canada. Returning the item to the manufacturer for service work will be the sole responsiblity of the purchaser.

Since FN does not have a Canadian warranty outlet and they do not offer warranty to Canadian dealers or customers from their US office it was my understanding that you did not warranty the FN products yourself... if I'm wrong about that then I certainly stand corrected.

While we also have a warranty statement on our website that reminds customers that warranties are the responsibility of the manufacturer involved, we also strive to assist all customers with any issues they may have. We maintain an in-house staff of certified armorers as well as a wide range of equipement and parts for servicing most of what we sell. We also work directly with the various manufacturers to support them and make sure that customers are able to get full warranty support in spite of the border and the issues that it causes. In most cases we do the warranty work here in Canada on behalf of the manufacturer and with their support and assitance... at no cost to the customer.

Let's not have this turn into a pissing match and dealer fight. Remarks like those of Questar saying that Kodiak will abandon their customers if a warranty issue comes up are disturbing. Kodiak seems to have taken issue with that and, absent proof of specific incidents, I think that Mark should retract the comment.

As for OZZ, you said it wasn't a good deal and Mark called you out on it. You're being argumentative and coming off as a jerk. Feel free to ask questions and not act like a dink. Everyone will thank you for it.
