Howdy,

Are there any non-restricted action shooting competitions? Aside from skeet or trap shooting. Maybe something with non-restricted rifle and shotgun? A 2-gun maybe?

Going entirely from memory and hearsay I think there are a few things...

There's all sorts of IPSC with PCC, shotgun and even airsoft but they sound pretty uncommon around here.

Maybe some practical precision rifle and rimfire matches. Possibly steel challenge?

Where are you in AB? Sometimes you need to step up and create your own league. I have helped establish one action shooting league. I think your idea has merit and would be interested in exploring it depending on location.

I’m in Calgary AB. Do you think that would be feasible? Creating a shooting league for shotgun and non restricted rifle?

You could make a 2 gun action shooting league using a shotgun and rifle, but it's IMO more common for 2 gun to be pistol and rifle.

Steel challenge can be shot with rimfire rifles and pistol caliber carbines that can be non-restricted rifles.

IPSC as mentioned has the pistol caliber carbine division, and Mini-rifle (.22lr rifles only).

Canadian rimfire precision series (CRPS) and Outlaw rimfire precision series (ORPS) are related and involve long distance rimfire shooting.

CDTSA hosts multiple matches in the Summer within one hrs drive of Calgary. They are generally labeled as 3 gun matches, but they have divisions within it that also allow 2 gun.

I’d love to see Mini Rifle in Canada but it’s currently not sanctioned by IPSC Canada because “power” is not tested in it.

The club had a steel challenge last year, most of us shot center fire handguns, couple shot 22 handguns and a couple shot 22 rifles, one shot a 9mm carbine. Fun for everyone, a new thing to me , but some top shooters as well.

In Milo, AB? The video mentioned Milo.
Didn’t realize there was a range around there.
