Ok, I know you can modify a Beretta Storm with a 19inch barrel...
Ruger PC9/PC40, RRA and Oly 9mm ARs, FAMAE SAF, B&T TP9, BRS-99 are all restricted, right ?

So is there such a thing as a production pistol caliber carbine (9mm or .40) that's non-restricted ?
Hopefully one that takes 10rd pistol mags.
(edit: and that is semi-auto)

marlin camp carbine 16.5" restricted 9mm,45 acp 10 shot
hk usc 45 restricted 5 shot

just get epps to re barrel them
to 18.5 " and re register them as non restricted

the oly ar,s are restricted by name and stay restricted at 18.5" + but you get to use 10 roung glock mags

i heard the tp9 can accept a certain type of common pistol mag so 10 rounds of 9mm and you could re barrel it to 18.5" but i do not know if you would be able to get to 26" oal (over all length) to get to non restricted

Looked up the Cx4 Storm. 422 mm barrels have the gun listed as restricted. One listing for 482 mm (Non-Commercial Customization) 9mm Luger shows non-restricted. Also one 508 mm.

From the Firearms Reference Table - Canadian Law Comments
NOTE: the ten round limit specified in the Cartridge Magazine Control Regulations applies to magazines for this firearm provided: a) the magazine is originally designed for use in a semi-automatic handgun, and b) the handgun is commonly available in Canada.

Make sure you have a 5 round only mag. Don't get caught with a 10 round mag in the gun.

KEL-TEC Sub 9 with 18.5".
I had a few, I still have 3 of them. S&W pistol grip and mag, mag is designed for 12 or 14, BLOCKED TO 5 , pics to follow. I heard about Glock grip and mags, I have never seen one.

Sub 9 is no longer in production, it is replaced with Sub 2000 in 9 Para or 40 S&W, 16" barrel, a pain in the ass to bring it in Canada.

I have seen at the range and in a gun store long time ago one H&K in 45 ACP. Does anyone know if it is non-res?

I think it is the HK USC that you can convert to non-restricted with the appropriate longer bbl.

The lever actions are fun but not semi-auto fun :D

The non-restricted Storms look like fun (still havent shot anything with mine... still waiting to get out in the field and blast some gophers).

You could stick a 30-round mag in one, if there was a 30-round 9mm mag that was designed for a pump.

The use of a mag is not controlled, its design is. So you can put a 10-round P89 mag into a PC9, or a 10-round Beretta 92 mag into a Storm. You just can't possess a 10-round Storm mag, so, if you can't possess it you can't use it in a gun by definition.

Allow me to quote from the very link you provided: "The 10-cartridge pistol magazine used on earlier versions of the Beretta CX4 Storm rifles is still legal"

Here is one of my folding Sub 9s made by Kel-Tec in 9 mm with S&W grip and mag, non restricted

storms were comming with 10 rnd mags marked berreta storm. those are prohib.

berreta canada WILL exchange those for mags not marked storm 10 rnd pistol mags which are 100% legal for the storm

Non-restricted you say?
37129-1 barrel 413 mm shots 5 restricted
37129-4 barrel 470 mm shots 5 non-restricted
37129-2 barrel 413 mm shots 10 restricted
37129-3 barrel 470 mm shots 10 non-restricted

I hope I copied that right. If someone has different info, please post and quote the source :)

I think the reference to the 10 shots relates to the original manufacturer mag capacity. I don't think you can have 10 legaly. Mine are all blocked to 5.

According to the same disc, all Sub 40s, Sub 2000s, SU-16s are restricted, I guess because of the 16" barrel.

Any hassle getting it in?
I never "got in" Kel-Tecs. I got them here, used. According to somebody in another thread, some store ordered a small quantity of them with 18.5".

What was the OA cost?
I heard that the store price was around 6-700. That was mid '90s.
I bought mines starting at 700 and all the way up, depending on the condition, accessories, how bad I wanted them at that moment and so on, you know... Most of the times I traded. For the one in the picture, used but v. good shape, I traded stuff of about $850 a couple of years back. I have to feed this chronic gun addiction of mine, you see...:D

i don't think so. there is no law that states you can't use a pistol mag in a non-restricted firearm. you can use the 10 round pistol mag anywhere you are allowed to shoot the gun. throw the 5 rounders in the garbage.

Odd. I thought they were prohib for some reason. I certainly hadn't heard of any in Canada. I'm assuming by your pic with the tape measure that the arm in question is non-res?
