Non Restricted Purchase Question

Hi..just a quick question regarding the purchase of a non-restricted.

Purchased it over the phone from a dealer in Canada and received an email from Canada post stating it was already shipping when I arrived home from work. Super quick!

However the business has not provided me with a reference number for the transfer. I'm assuming I still need to contact the CFC with the reference number they gave the business to finish the transfer?

Is this correct or will the registration just show up in the mail in a few weeks and I do not have to call the CFC to finish the transfer.
 
You should not have to complete the transfer. The dealer has to perform the transfer before they ship it to you...and they just provide you with a reference number for the transfer. The registration cert will come via mail in 2-3 weeks.
 
If this was a business and you provided them with your PAL and the expirey date I think you are good to go.
You can follow it via CP Tracking or the lack there of tracking.
If it where a private deal you would need a reference number and need to call the 1-800 number.
Others will correct me if I am wrong, but I am 99% confident I gave you the correct info.

They would not ship it if transfer didn't go thru.
Wait for the parcel, go get it at PO, and wait for reg.cert. There should be a paper in box with the gun saying the transfer was completed and listing your new reg. cert., but not reg. cert. itself.
 
Non restricteds are pretty quick process, I was at bass Pro couple weeks ago and walked out with a shot gun, right through good ole vaughn mills, even passed a police officer gave him a nod and said hello
 
Thanks for the responses. I thought all purchases need the buyer to contact the CFC with a reference number provided by the seller. My last purchase was a restricted and I assumed the process was the same. Just seemed weird to have a Canada Post notification saying my new boom stick was already in the mail 2 hours after buying it over the phone and I didn't have a reference number or spoken to someone in the CFC office.
