Non Restricted/Restricted Ammo

Take the model 94 in 44 mag for example would the rifle be non restricted and if so would you need a restricted lisence to buy ammo??

No. you just need a PAL to buy ammo. Any ammo. The store (canadian tire/walmart/etc) clerk is typically not bright enough to know what it goes into. They usually don't have handgun ammo thought.

I digress, a PAL is needed. That's it.

There is no such thing as handgun or rifle ammo, just ammo. There are 9mm rifles and 30-30 handguns. The lines are blurred, so no point in making a distinction.

Thanks I wasn't sure about that mostly because you cant buy that sort of ammo at a crappy tire or walmart

it is the firearm that is restricted not the ammo.
but there are some prohibited rounds such as incendiary or the type that explodes upon impact
otherwise, you buy your ammo with a PAL. that's it
