looking for a nice non restricted tactical typ rifle in .223 for plinking. was looking mostley at the xcr and tavor mainly. anyone shot both of these? what one would you go witH? i dont really mind spending the extra for a tavor if its worth it, seems pretty nice. iv never gotten a chance to get my hands of either of the two. i know its sort of apples and oranges but if anyone has any opinions thats would be great thanks.

i would look towards the swiss arms black special if your looking for quality and accuracy the swiss arms is a much better gun then both of those mentioned In My Opinion if you aren't worried about price

does it take ar mags? i was wanting something i can use the 10rd lar mags in.

You can get an adapter but it is pretty price because it is the entire lower, about 600$ I think. Made in Canada though

It's a lower receiver made by north eastern arms.

I've owned an xcr, and currently have a tavor. My only complaint about the tavor is the horrid trigger. It makes blasting gophers more difficult.

Both guns were/are completely reliable for me.

What about the Benelli MR1? That'll take AR mags natively and costs less than the other 3 options suggested above. Course if I had the $$$, I'd get the Swiss!

Get the Swiss Arms if you have the money!

I've owned and shot extensively an XCR223 for a year and have shot on and off Swiss Arms for more than 20 years.
I don't know what to think of the Tavor except that the trigger is terrible while the XCR's trigger is great.

The Swiss Arms is a superior design, maybe the best 223 assault rifle in the world but it's very expensive.
If you have the money get the Swiss Arms, if not get an XCR and some locktite.

Both are very accurate with the right ammo but the Swiss Arms is tougher and battle proven!

I have a hard time trying to justify spending 3K on a gun, myself.

The Benelli MR1 is about 1/2 the price of a Swiss or Tavor and does the same thing.

That's a pretty sweeping statement. A Ferrari and a Toyota Corolla do the same thing, in that they both get you from point A to point B. But I think you'd agree there is a big difference between the two.

Comparing a Benelli MR1 to a Tavor is the same as Toyota / Ferrari?

Sure, some guys might like the Tavor, and a percentage of them will like them enough to own more than one. But when you actually compare the two, they both do the same thing using the same ammo.

$3K for a gun isn't necessarily out of my reach (or anyone's reach if they really, really wanted one), but that money could also be a decent used quad, or minor house renovation.

It's your money, spend it how you want.
