I thought a HK UMP/USC .45 is an interesting sub gun. I recently picked up a BRS 99 and really enjoyed it at the range, I think a UMP nonrestricted would be a ton of fun as well.

Are their any Non-restricted conversions available in Canada?

Are the barrels easy to change to nonrestricted length?

Im thinking of getting another pistol caliber pseudo sub gun to add to my collection in the future, stuck between HK USC or a CZ Skorpion EVO.

I don't know for sure but I believe a full USC to UMP conversion will run you a few grand. Between 3-6 grand if memory serves me. A real UMP if you can find one will run you well over 10 grand.

Honestly, I'd go with the EVO. They're a fraction of the price, they're readily available, and aftermarket support is growing rapidly. Plus it has the MP5 style charging handle so that's a major plus.

A few guys make barrels for them, Dlask usually has 18.75" ones available (mine needed a teeny bit of fitting), and I know Herron Arms does conversions also. If you get a Restricted one and put a NR barrel on it, you'll need to take it to a verifier (usually any gun store will have a verifier on hand) and it'll take a couple weeks to get it stricken from the registry as non-restricted. If you send it out to Herron Arms or another guy to do the work for you, they'll verify it for you as part of the conversion.

If you want to use the full meal deal UMP conversion, you can buy the components at HKparts and get them imported through IRunGuns, as they have experience doing this.

You can also try and get a hold of the Hera Arms stock adapter and use the single-stack mags, which takes a lot of the cost out of doing the conversion.

With that said, they are extremely fun little rifles, very easy on the ears, light, low recoil (great for new shooters) and very accurate. If you have a line on one, they are great guns to tinker with.

New stock I made with a Magpul Zhukov stock, looks perfect!

There are parts on the EE right now to build a UMP clone for about $2600 (USC, stock adapter, Dlask barrel + rails).

I almost bought them back in December but decided the price is too high given the absence of parts/support. The magazines are basically unobtainable, the one retailer I know that has a handful sells them for $180 a piece, for 5 rounds.

I opted to invest in my Scorpion and 9mm AR instead, but if you decide to go ahead please post pictures!

Edit: The clone would be restricted by length, misread the original post so ignore this.

My clone is a fine piece of kit! Very high quality.....but frack me did it cost me, granted it came with lots of extra parts. Nothing like the hk slap! The mags I found cost me another arm. There are soooo many options for us now that the hk conversion doesn’t seem feasible but I got it love it and will have it for life. Get a skorp

Ya same here, my USC/UMP45 conversion cost me almost $6000. Love it though. The APC9 is considerably cheaper option and almost identical to the UMP9. No HK Slap though and a reciprocating CH if that matters.
