How often does one come across a non-stamped Russian SKS stock? First time I've seen one.

It looks carefully sanded.

I actually was there when the crate was opened as the fellow was looking for a hand picked SKS ( iirc about 15yrs ago?) . So, it did come out of a refurb crate. Indeed, and oddity.
An inspection in person one could probably surmise it was not sanded, but hard to depict that in pics.

The lighter tones on buttstock and rounded edges near the buttplate is a dead giveaway. It was either sanded at refurb or after. Its sanded my friend. No worries though, because it's a nice refurb job.

NO date and No arsenal stamp is standard on 1956-1958 carbines.

However, a stock serial number is present for all years of Soviet sks production.

It is a refurb...non matching. If sanded at refurb, I wonder why they would have bothered to do that. The contour of the stock is pefect, so hence the reason I thought somehow it possibley missed it's appointment with the stamper. I saw it come out of the crate, so not tampered with. Anyways, only one I have seen like that and I just wanted to see if anyone else came across this oddity. :p

The Canadian Tire store on Leila had a barrel of take off stocks several years ago left over from the Tapco swap.

I needed some hardware and grabbed a stock in similar shape without the serial number stamped.

I believe stock and hand guard were $20.

It actually came from the Can Tire on Liela!
RIP Mike, good young guy who was running the firearms section the store and bringing in so many milsurps and surplus ammo! Poor fellow was only 37yrs old.
