For you guys out there that have a dedicated belt, like say, safariland or something,

I have seen guys that keep there mag holders and holster constantly attached, does this mean they don't thread it through the loops on their pants???

Are they designed to be worn on the hips without being through the belt loops?

there is an inner and an outter belt

THe inner goes through the loops and is the female part of the velcro.

The outter is the male velcro and his has the holster etc on it.

Thanks!

I'm guessing there aren't too many issues with the outer shaking loose?? From what I have heard, safariland is a pretty good brand

What you are seeing is the outer belt of a 2 belt system. The inner belt which goes through the belt loops has a velcro surface that mates with the velcro on the inside of the outer belt. With this system the holster and mag pouches can be set in place and never moved which keeps their location the same which makes draws and reloads easier.

I think this might be a redundant question, but just to make sure, there aren't any separation issues between the inside and outside? Like the velcro coming loose?

just remember that velcro inner/outer belt systems are only approved for IPSC and NOT IDPA.

IDPA specs a normal style belt must be used UNLESS your .mil or leo and then your duty belt may be used, BUT you must carry all of your on duty pouches with it.

The CR Speed and Double Alpha belts are more rigid and allow for less slop in the pouches and holster.
They Also reverse the normal velcro set up with the hook part on the outer and the loop on the inner, won't tear up your jeans or jacket as much. Much more comfortable too.
It's the only way to go!

The new Shootersgear belts have the female velcro on the inner belt and also have a positive "cinch type" fastener.
Made in Canada too!

I've been using a standard duty inner/outer belt system for about nine years now with belt keepers. It's never come off for me, even in a few wrestling matches. Adding belt keepers will add an extra level of security and prevent any sag.

I just got mine today. Awesome!!! I like the cinch belt. It's much more secure than just velcro when you take the outer belt off.

After all, I wouldn't want to pull a Ferris.

Thanks, I must of overlooked this when reading the rules, the only real reason I was going to purchase this belt is for IDPA.

It might get a little annoying since my mag holsters are not slip ones, the belt needs to be threaded through, but we'll see

well you could buy the belt and then just use it as a normal belt... the rules for the IDPA state,

Gun belts may be no wider than 1 ¾” or thicker than 5/16” and
must pass through the pant loops

the problem with the velcro belts is that the outer goes over top of the pant loops.... you could still use the inner belt and thread it thru everything.

your best bet though is to find an instructor style belt, pop quiz are you a skinny guy or a fat guy ?? do you normally wear belts ?
