Looking for a beginer but good Side by side, don't want to buy something cheap and end up with issues, but would pay abit more to have something that i would love, and use it for years,

Any one have any tips? I see a $800 used Midland used Side by side selling in this forum, there's stoeger uplander sold in cabelas ( but are they good? people seem to have issues with it, a hit or miss) also there's the churchill 12ga. sold in one of the firearms store close by,

would love some tips and advise!

A couple comments...

Clay enthusiast, that implies a higher volume of shooting than the typical hunting gun...

Something that you would love & have for years, than implies a bit nicer wood & metal...

IMHO you're not looking for a Stoeger Uplander or a Churchill... And possibly not a SxS... Maybe an O/U...

If it were me, I'd be looking at a Browning, a Beretta... That level of gun AND make sure it fits you above all else!

Cheers
Jay
P.S. I shot 8 rounds of Skeet on the weekend with my Beretta Perennia III, a hunting shotgun that I pressed into service for Skeet... It works, but it was meant for the field... If this Skeet thing turns into a true addiction, I'll likely look at a dedicated Skeet gun...

Hey Jay!

I found a couple used O/U in my local store, what do you think of these?

https://www.reliablegun.com/used-br...nut-stock-some-marks-in-finish-fair-condition

https://www.reliablegun.com/used-ca...d-rib-fixed-modcylinder-chokes-good-condition

would appreciate any feedback!

My preference would be to have a shotgun with removable choke tubes, thereby enabling you to use the shotgun for Skeet (skeet or IC choke) OR Trap (Improved Modified OR Full choke)... And glad you are looking local, because fit is most important & you want to see the shotgun in person to confirm that UNLESS you are buying one that you know fits you...

Keep looking, you'll likely find a deal OR, there's always 'buy once, cry once'... ;)
