Noob Question About Putting Gun In Car

That is not true.

It is perfectly legal to transport a pistol to the range, say in a red steel toolbox from Canadian Tire. Or maybe a suit case.

there are enough stupid rules without making up more Eh!:p

Transporting it out in the open is perfectly lawful, as is in a gun case.

However hiding it in a towel, or a case not ment for firearms is a criminal offense.

Search concealed weapon in the legalese section for more details.

While interesting, it has no bearing on anything unless you are hunting. If you are not hunting, hunting regs don't apply.

Come to New Brunswick, where the minute you step out your door you are hunting... You cannot transport a firearm outside of legal hunting times unless it is in a case.

Called the RCMP and my CFO today (Ontario). The RCMP said that I'd have to talk to my provincial CFO to find that out. The CFO said there's nothing wrong with covering up a firearm with a blanket or bag when transporting to the house from the car and the opposite. To double check I said it would be so the neighbours don't see it and think the wrong thing. They said it wasn't concealing a weapon. Doesn't have to be hunting season.
I'm releaved that my covering with a bag wasn't illegal.
And I'm done highjacking the thread. Promise:cool:

Sitting back and reflecting on this issue I will admit to reporting a person carrying a rifle in the open. It was back to 1978-79 (the exact year escapes me) when the Queen was visiting Saskatoon. It was a couple of hours prior to the motorcade arriving in the area. I spotted a person with a rifle slinged over his shoulder along with a backpack. Cops responded quickly but it was never reported as to what resulted in this situation.
